  • What a great time we've been having at Texas Water 2026! We are grateful for every conversation, connection, and opportunity this year's show brought our way. A huge thank you to our partners and everyone who stopped by booths to visit our team in San Antonio. It is always meaningful to connect with the engineers, municipalities, and industry professionals who are doing the hard work of keeping our water infrastructure running strong. Texas is facing real and growing water challenges -- a booming population, rising demand, and an ever-expanding industrial complex that puts our water systems to the test every day. We look forward to continuing to build the partnerships and bring the solutions needed to meet those challenges head on!

  • Dry-pit reliability. Submersible protection. In Texas municipal infrastructure, certain dry-pit designs require a fully immersible motor to protect against accidental inundation. The challenge isn’t the dry state itself. It’s thermal stability. Most submersible motors aren’t engineered to dissipate heat without surrounding liquid. The Tsurumi AVANT MQ-Series is. Its closed-loop glycol-water cooling system operates independently of the wet well, maintaining full thermal stability whether the station is running dry or submerged. What makes it different from other cooling approaches: • Total Thermal Isolation: The glycol-water mix stays completely isolated from the wastewater. No risk of internal clogs or abrasive wear in the cooling circuit.    • Double SiC/SiC Seals: Two silicon carbide seals are housed in a separate oil chamber, not in contact with the cooling loop. A seal compromise never fouls the thermal system. • Inundation-Ready: Full S1 continuous-duty performance is maintained even during high-pressure flood events. • Simplified Maintenance: Seals can be inspected or replaced without draining the cooling circuit, reducing time-to-repair for field crews. When your lift station demands the efficiency of a dry pit with the fail-safe protection of a submersible, the MQ-Series is the platform built for it. When designing for inundation-risk areas, what’s your primary concern: motor thermal protection, seal integrity, or something else?

  • One platform. Hundreds of configurations. Every application optimized. Texas municipal pump applications are rarely simple. From the Panhandle to the Rio Grande, your system must withstand the shifting head requirements of varying wet well levels, the constant stress of frequent start-stops, seasonal flow fluctuations, and a punishing mix of fats, stringy solids, and corrosive H2S environments. When a pump platform forces you to compromise to fit a model number, it’s prioritizing the manufacturer’s catalog over the specific needs of your system. The Tsurumi AVANT MQ-Series was designed with modularity at its core to meet your exacting requirements:  • Performance Range: 4 HP to 215 HP | Discharge to 16” | Flows to 13,600 GPM.  • Installation Versatility: Wet or dry-pit configurations with closed-loop cooling available.  • Custom Hydraulics: 5 options (Open Channel, Chopper, Vortex, Grinder, or High Head) to handle your specific solids loading.  • Premium Protection: FM Approved (XP), IE3 Premium Efficiency motors, and Molib-techTM coating for extreme corrosion/abrasion resistance, double seals and multi-mode leak detection. Custom configuration. Zero compromises. For engineers specifying Texas municipal lift stations: what’s the biggest limitation you run into with current “off-the-shelf” pump platforms?

  • The Smith Pump Avant Information Blitz starts now! Over the coming months, we'll be sharing a series of posts highlighting features of the Avant pump line. Our Sales Engineers will also be out across the state visiting utilities, engineers, and operators to introduce it firsthand, including lunch and learns for those who want a deeper look.
