  • Engineering Pro Tips: Cutting Arc-Flash Hazard with ARMS/RELT Big frames need arc-energy reduction; a labeled maintenance mode makes it practical. Large breakers can include a temporary maintenance setting that makes them trip much faster while people are working—reducing incident energy during that window. Different vendors call it ARMS/ERMS/RELT, but the goal is the same: shorter clearing time → lower energy resulting in lower arc flash hazards. NEC also requires an arc-energy-reduction method for breakers 1200A and up. What we do: ☑️ Add a clearly labeled maintenance switch on the upstream breaker (ARMS/ERMS/RELT). ☑️Train ops: on before energized work, off when complete. ☑️Document in the study for NEC 240.87 compliance on the big frame. 👉 Give Us Your Feedback: Where do you put the maintenance switch so it’s easy to use and hard to forget to turn off? #ElectricalTesting #NETA #Engineering
