Quiet crises are unfolding in minivans, hospital parking lots, and late-night kitchen conversations. The “Sandwich Generation” -- adults simultaneously supporting aging parents and adult children -- often carries responsibilities no one fully sees: • Managing careers, while coordinating doctor appointments • Helping children launch, while helping parents decline • Paying tuition bills and long-term care costs • Trying to plan for retirement, while postponing it And perhaps hardest of all: making deeply emotional decisions with almost no preparation. What strikes me most is how often families wait until “the phone call” before discussing wishes, legal documents, caregiving realities, or financial plans. By then, clarity is harder to find. This thoughtful piece by Samaritan volunteer Paul Levin, CFP®, ChFC®, RICP®, TPCP® of Retirement Refined, LLC explores the emotional and financial realities facing the Sandwich Generation; and why proactive conversations matter so much, especially before serious illness: https://lnkd.in/ephxPCZa
