A month after MODEX and just prior to Automate, one takeaway still stands out: robots aren’t a plug-and-play investment. Of course there were plenty of cool robots on display, but this year’s show reinforced the reality that robots are so much more than a discrete hardware purchase. These powerful tools require service, integration, and workflow ownership to deliver predictable uptime, throughput, safety, and ROI.

  • One of the most important parts of our time in Boulder was the presence of our finishing and software partners. Because no sheet-fed operation stands on the press alone. What happens before and after print is where much of the real differentiation occurs today. It’s also where complexity shows up fast. Having partners in the room who solve these challenges every day changed the conversation. It moved from theory to practice: what works, what doesn’t, and how to make it repeatable. We appreciate those who showed up, shared their expertise, and helped make the discussions more grounded and more useful. This kind of collaboration is what makes these sessions work—and what helps customers build stronger, more complete operations. • “Of all the printer manufacturers, you’re the only ones consistently talking about everything around the box.” That comment came up last week when we brought commercial print leaders from across the country to our Customer Experience Center in Boulder. Over a few days, we hosted hands-on demonstrations and strategy discussions focused on where print manufacturing is headed. Yes, there was plenty of technology on display: sheet-fed production, inkjet, automation, finishing. But the real value showed up in the conversations. We quickly moved beyond speed and specs and got into what it actually takes to run a modern sheet-fed operation. The same pressures surfaced again and again: Doing more with less: Becoming more automated and turning labor into skilled labor Job variability: Handling shorter runs and constant changeovers without introducing downtime Workflow friction: Keeping prepress, print, and finishing aligned to avoid bottlenecks Predictability: Running a stable operation despite unpredictable demand These aren’t just equipment challenges. They’re operational ones. And they force teams to think well beyond the production floor. In Boulder, leaders compared approaches, pressure-tested ideas, and learned from peers, finishing partners, and Ricoh experts who work through these challenges every day. It's these types of conversations that continue to shape our focus—and directly reflect how Ricoh helps teams stay adaptable and keep operations steady in the middle of constant change. Thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion. If you haven’t attended one of these experiences yet, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

  • For a global insurance company, managing high volumes of documents meant time‑consuming manual processes, limited visibility, and increased risk across critical operations. Ricoh transformed how work moves across the organization, automating document workflows, reducing manual touchpoints, and improving accuracy from intake to output. The result is a more controlled, efficient operation where: Processing is faster and more consistent Risk is reduced through greater accuracy and visibility Teams spend less time managing documents and more time focused on higher‑value work This is what happens when workflow is designed to run in the background — reliably, predictably, and at scale. • How can organizations overcome barriers to accessing the data employees need? Amy W. Loomis, Ph.D., IDC’s VP of Research, explains that it starts with making data easy to access and use. That means digitizing information and ensuring employees can find what they need to do their jobs effectively. Just as important is ongoing data management — breaking down silos, integrating systems, and improving visibility across the business. When data is fragmented, it doesn’t just slow work down. It increases risk. The goal is simple: make data accessible, connected, and secure so employees can work smarter and organizations can operate with confidence. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ed43SPHf

  • Wide format production isn’t about output alone. It’s about how the entire operation runs. At our Wide-Format Summit in Duluth, Georgia, one theme came through clearly: success in wide format today depends less on the device itself and more on workflow, integration, and operational discipline. Across conversations with customers, we heard consistent priorities, including: How to run production environments more predictably How to manage complexity across finishing, materials, and post‑print steps How to reduce manual handoffs that slow jobs down or introduce risk How to scale output without scaling labor Wide-format environments operate much more like manufacturing floors than print rooms. Downtime impacts revenue. Workflow gaps create bottlenecks. And efficiency comes from how well systems, processes, and people are connected end‑to‑end. That’s where Ricoh’s approach stands apart — integrating wide-format production into a broader, automated workflow so that operations run more reliably, efficiently, and at scale. As we continue the conversation this week at our Sheet‑Fed event in Boulder, CO, the focus remains the same: helping customers modernize production environments by connecting print, workflow, and automation into one cohesive operation. More to come.

  • Ricoh 3D for Healthcare is advancing surgical training through high‑fidelity simulation. Inguinofemoral lymphadenectomy (IFLND) is a technically demanding procedure, requiring surgeons to navigate complex anatomy, variable tissue depths, and critical neurovascular structures. Because real‑world training opportunities are limited, high‑fidelity simulation is essential for building confidence and improving technique in gynecologic oncology care. Ricoh 3D for Healthcare, based at Innovation Quarter (Winston‑Salem), collaborated with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist est Baptist’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, led by Dr. Janelle Darby and Dr. Ana Kouri, to design and produce a high‑fidelity IFLND surgical training model. Built using radiographic‑derived anatomy, 3D printing, silicone casting, and urethane finishing, the trainer delivers realistic tissue handling, vessel compliance, and lymph node dissection practice. This collaboration shows what’s possible when clinical expertise and advanced manufacturing come together to elevate surgical education.

  • 🍭Even the sweetest operations can get slowed down by manual processes. For a leading confectionery company, managing incoming parcel deliveries in a hybrid work environment meant constant coordination, missed pickups, and valuable time spent tracking packages. Ricoh transformed this process by deploying smart locker solutions that secure deliveries and automate pickup — eliminating manual handoffs and reducing reliance on staff to manage the flow. The result is a more predictable operation, improved delivery control, and an estimated $90,000 in annual labor cost savings. Because even in a fast‑moving environment, the smallest workflows can have the biggest operational impact. 🔗 Read the full case study: http://ms.spr.ly/6043vucNN
