    Horizontal collaboration sounds like the obvious answer. Shared freight. Shared warehousing. Better utilisation. Less waste. But Neil Kinnear, VP of Sales EMEA, makes a more practical point in his latest article on UK supply chains: Before businesses collaborate externally, they need to understand what is happening internally. Many manufacturers and logistics operators are still carrying the cost of the “just-in-case” era: extra inventory, hidden capacity, and planning assumptions that have gone unchallenged for too long. That makes collaboration harder than it looks. Spare capacity only matters when you can see it clearly. Demand signals only help when internal planning is not fragmented. Neil’s view: start with visibility, integrated planning, clean data, and change management. Then look outward. Because when your own operation is clear, collaboration becomes a multiplier.
