A college project. A Hyperloop pod. One handshake with Elon Musk. That was the turning point for Awais Ahmed. On Young Turks Reloaded with Shereen Bhan, the Pixxel founder recalls how a 2017 Hyperloop competition at SpaceX pushed him to dedicate his life to space technology. Pixxel now deployed hyperspectral imaging satellites and is on a mission to become a health monitor for our planet. 'A good chance to meet Elon' but what followed was bigger: a front-row view into how Musk reshaped an entire industry by making impossible ideas suddenly feel inevitable. 'Go back 14 months from now... if they were building orbital data centre satellites... you would think they were crazy.' And then Elon Musk came in and said, 'We do orbital data centre satellites.' From building satellites in India to taking on one of the world’s toughest industries, Ahmed explains why the real “Musk effect” isn’t technology—it’s ambition. Exploring the future of AI-native intelligence at TiE Delhi-NCR's India Innovation Day 2026 💫 Our Founder and CTO, Kshitij Khandelwal, spoke at #iDay2026 last week on the panel, “From Data to Decisions: Building AI-Native Companies End-to-End.” The discussion brought together perspectives across frontier intelligence systems, AI infrastructure, consumer applications, and investment, exploring how founders are embedding AI into the core of their businesses across data, decision-making, product, and operations. A closer look at what it truly means to build AI-first companies today, and why India is uniquely positioned for this moment. 🌎 #IndiaInnovationDay

What if the next data centre wasn’t on Earth at all? 🤔 As industries generate larger volumes of data, the demand for compute is growing fast, putting pressure on bandwidth, infrastructure, energy, and resources. Orbital data centres could offer a new way forward: moving compute closer to where space-based data is generated so that information can be processed in orbit rather than sent back to Earth first. This could enable faster insights, lower latency, and a new layer of infrastructure built for the age of AI and Earth observation. 🌏

Not all Earth observation data is built the same. 🛰️ Watch Ryan Hammock, Head of Solutions Engineering, in the latest episode of our Hyperspectral Academy series as he breaks down the fundamentals of remote sensing platforms, what goes into selecting the right data, and how hyperspectral imaging, with high spectral resolution and narrow bands, enables deeper analysis across industries.

Glimpses from GEOINT Symposium 2026, where conversations across geospatial intelligence, Earth observation, and national security took centre stage! 🚀 From remote sensing and hyperspectral imaging to analytics and operational intelligence, the week underscored how emerging technologies are shaping the future of decision-making across strategic domains. The next generation of geospatial intelligence will be defined by deeper visibility and faster insight!

What if the most critical details were hidden in the materials themselves? In contested environments, camouflage, decoys, and structural fatigue can evade standard imaging, creating critical visibility gaps. The challenge is not just detecting a target, but understanding its material composition, condition, and vulnerabilities. Our latest storymap explores how hyperspectral insights reveal what traditional imaging can miss. Link in the comment section below 👇

In a first for India, homegrown startup Pixxel teams up with India’s AI unicorn Sarvam to take data centres to the orbit🚀 Pixxel Founder & CEO Awais Ahmed tells Shereen Bhan why the future of AI infrastructure may not be on Earth at all. ‘SpaceX now has announced its own plans for launching a million data center satellites.’ ‘We have seen what Sarvam has been doing the last few months with sovereign AI models that they've trained and running inference there, and we have been focused on what we can do with the infrastructure that we are building in Bangalore, to build and launch better, bigger, better, larger satellites.’ Powered by NVIDIA GPUs, the satellite will run sovereign AI models directly in space using solar energy, orbital cooling and real-time AI inference. And the timeline? ‘Let’s see what can be done with one satellite this year’ #YoungTurksReloaded #Pixxel #Sarvam #AI #SpaceTech #OrbitalDataCentre #NVIDIA #SovereignAI
