This past semester, a group of Clemson University students from the Social Media and Sports Communication class taught by Professor Brandon Boatwright worked on analyzing and creating social media strategies for the PGA TOUR. The class, focusing on academic research in sports communication and social media, chooses a different sport organization each semester. The class visited PGA TOUR Studios in March, then members of the TOUR’s content team were invited to take a tour of Clemson University and watch the students’ final presentations. Several of the students appreciated the opportunity to collaborate, learn more about golf and take a deep dive into sport and social media. Some noted, “This semester sparked my interest in golf but also the culture around it”, “I was able to truly voice my opinion for a real client”, “I loved analyzing the data and coming up with strategies that could actually be effective in the real world based on data we had collected.”
