William Bishop, PhD: In a world where everything seems to be going digital, physical books remain important. 📚 Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults say they read a print book in the past year – the only format used by a majority of Americans. Still, audiobooks and e-books have become much more popular since we first asked about them 14 years ago. Americans are more than twice as likely to read audiobooks than in 2011. What’s a good book you’ve read recently – and how did you read it? Let us know in the comments below! 💬

Kirsten Lesage, PhD shares: Christianity has experienced some of the largest losses due to religious switching of any faith group around the world. This is particularly the case for Catholicism which has lost more people than it’s gained in 21 of the 24 countries we analyzed around the world. People who have left Catholicism have tended to join Protestantism or disaffiliate from religion altogether. What are you seeing in your community? What other religious groups are you curious about? Let us know in the comments.

There has been a small increase in the share of Americans who say they want the government to declare Christianity the nation's official religion. But most Americans reject the idea that Christianity should be the nation's official faith. Our survey also shows there’s been a slight decline in the share of Americans who want the government to stop enforcing separation of church and state. Ahead of what the White House is calling a “large-scale revival” meeting on the National Mall, our new survey shows that a growing minority of U.S. adults say religion is gaining influence in American life. And more than half say religion plays a positive role in society. At the same time, most people want churches and other houses of worship to stay out of day-to-day politics and not endorse candidates.

What does it take to be a good news consumer? 🤷 📱 Americans face a variety of challenges as they try to stay informed on news, including concerns about inaccurate news, stark political divides in news sources and the rise of artificial intelligence. 💬 We asked Americans to tell us, in their own words, what they think it means to be a “good” news consumer. 📢 The wide range of answers we received shows that Americans have many different ways of navigating the modern information landscape. #PewKnightInitiative
