SpaceX has made access to space routine. The northbound lane is open. But the southbound lane – returning goods from orbit to Earth quickly and precisely, remains largely unsolved. 70 years ago this week, Malcolm McLean transformed global logistics when the world's first container ship, the Ideal X, set sail. The In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) market is accelerating as launch costs continue to decline.  As Outpost’s Ryan Reel noted this week, lower costs make new on‑orbit production possible, but only if products can return to Earth. T-minus zero days until launch. Today we go back to the moon. Outpost VP of Engineering, Julie Newman, worked on the engine controller for the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS rocket) during her time at Boeing.
