It's been a few weeks since Qlik Connect 2026, and the conversations haven't stopped since. Looking back, what sticks most is the people. The partners we caught up with, the new faces who wandered into the booth mid-demo, and everything in between. This year's theme, "Dare to be Different," landed for us. Few people embody it better than Sven Kolo (yes, the guy in the funny suit) from EVACO GmbH, who sat down with our own Ali Lodhi for one of our favorite conversations of the show. Jesse Cole from the #SavannahBananas brought that same spirit to the keynote stage, reminding us that doing things differently is a choice you make every day, not a tagline. "Context is king. Sovereignty is supreme." That's the line Shawhin M., Director, Simba Intelligence, kept coming back to all week at Gartner Data & Analytics Summit #London. Judging by three days of steady conversations at Booth #720, it landed. His session, "AI Has a Production Data Problem. Here's How Teams Are Solving It," set the frame for the conversations we had all week. At the booth, we talked with CDOs, data architects, and senior data leaders from banking, government, financial services, healthcare, and more. A few themes came up over and over: 🟣 Hallucinations are still the #1 blocker. The organizations we spoke with aren't anti-AI. They're skeptical of AI they can't control or audit. Until teams can trust what the LLM is doing with their data, enterprise adoption stalls. 🟣 Sovereignty stopped being a "later" problem, especially across EMEA. With the EU AI Act on the calendar and the EU's tech sovereignty package on deck, on-prem and air-gapped deployment moved from edge case to baseline. For the financial institutions and public sector teams we met, data residency and full query auditability aren't preferences. They're requirements. 🟣 The model isn't the hard part. Most AI pilots stall before the model ever runs, because teams can't securely access governed production data without making copies, building brittle pipelines, or punching holes in governance. 🟣 Context beats horsepower. Throwing bigger models at the problem doesn't fix bad context. A semantic layer that understands your business and connects to data where it actually lives does. 🟣 TCO is the honest conversation. Token spend per call is roughly comparable, sometimes higher. The real win is total cost of ownership, and that conversation lands very differently with engineering than with finance. Catching Shawhin between sessions: "A lot of energy. Everyone's excited to learn, a lot of curiosity around the floor. We're hearing 'context is king' over and over, and a lot of folks are just trying to figure out where they are in their journey."
