Congrats to Oregon Life Sciences member Caravel Bio on this exciting milestone with Shell’s GameChanger program. Another strong example of synthetic biology innovation advancing in Oregon and creating real-world industrial and climate applications. We’re excited to see Oregon companies helping drive the future of carbon capture, industrial biocatalysis, and lower-emission manufacturing. #SynBio
We are proud to announce Caravel's selection to Shell's GameChanger program. Our novel platform for protein engineering and deployment is creating new opportunities for industrial catalysis. Caravel and Shell are working together to advance low-cost processes for carbon capture and utilization. We are extremely thankful for Shell's early support and look forward to continuing our collaboration with the GameChanger and catalysis teams. When scaled, our new process will: 💪 Leverage industrial-strength enzymes to accelerate carbon capture 🔄 Shift from the legacy amine technology → potassium bicarbonate process ⚡ Lower energy demand for CO₂ separation 🤝 Help energy generators and concrete produces reduce their emissions and generate revenue 💸 https://lnkd.in/gNRbeYSK

Oregon Life Sciences and the Oregon Business Council (OBC) have launched the Oregon Life Sciences Competitiveness Task Force — a landmark statewide strategy to define how Oregon competes, wins market share, and generates high-wage jobs in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Co-chaired by Sen. Ron Wyden, Rep. Hai Pham, and Tim Layton of Genentech, the Task Force brings together 30+ leaders from industry, universities, government, and economic development — with initial recommendations expected by late summer 2026. Oregon's life sciences sector already supports nearly 75,000 jobs and $21.2 billion in total economic activity. The opportunity ahead is significant. “Oregon has all the ingredients to be a national leader in life sciences – the talent, the entrepreneurial spirit, the research capability, and the anchor institutions. This Task Force is about turning that potential into a concrete plan and making sure Oregon is ready for opportunity and growth.” — Rep. Hai Pham DMD, Task Force Co-Chair Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/gqfPsyAt
