The FEDESSA - Federation of European Self Storage Associations Nordic Self Storage Conference in Stockholm was on Tuesday and although I wasn't able to attend every presentation, there are a few ideas that will stay with me. Gavin Shields of Stora made the case for 'legibility' the idea that AI can only truly work with your business if your business is structured for AI to read it. Not just automation, but interpretability. Ollie Saunders of Savills connected the dots between technology, scale and institutionalisation. The message was clear: the window to get ahead of institutional expectations is now and the businesses building clean, tech-enabled operations today are the ones that will attract serious capital tomorrow. The two sessions together felt like a blueprint for where not just the Nordic market is heading, but the EU/UK industry. And away from the main stage, I had the chance to sit down with a number of our customers and operators. Real conversations, honest feedback, and a reminder of why events like this matter. OpenTech Alliance has announced an expanded investment in the Asia-Pacific self storage market, formally broadening its territory to support operators across the broader APAC region. The expansion includes a growing regional team and newly established local inventory warehousing in Australia to better support deployments and reduce delivery timelines for operators adopting solutions across the INSOMNIAC IoE Ecosystem.
