  • Great to welcome Erin Flanagan, GACC South - German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc., to the OERTZENGroup office last week! It was a pleasure having you with us and exchanging insights, always inspiring to strengthen connections within our community. Thank you, Erin, for the visit and the great conversations! Looking forward to many more great exchanges.

    Today I visited the OERTZENGroup and had a great conversation with Stephan Scheibe about their work, their experience as members of the GACC South - German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc., and current topics impacting the recruiting industry. I enjoyed learning more about the OERTZENGroup as a company. Now celebrating five years in business, they primarily support German manufacturing companies, as well as companies and manufacturers with operations in both the U.S. and Mexico. We discussed the recruiting landscape, including the differences between executive search and mid-management professional recruitment, as well as their strategic advantage of having dedicated teams for both sales and recruiting. Their reach is impressive, with expertise across industries and clients in approximately 40 states. We also had thoughtful conversations around current workplace trends, including the return to in-office work and the growing challenges around relocation, particularly due to today’s housing market. It was especially interesting to discuss how our workforce development initiatives connect with the work they do, particularly when supporting clients facing talent gaps, something our apprenticeship and training programs are also designed to help address. Another interesting point I learned was that the OERTZENGroup is also part of US Business Partners, a network that supports German companies considering expansion into the U.S. and helps guide them through what’s needed to successfully do business here. Thank you, Stephan, for hosting me. It was great getting to know you better and learning more about the OERTZENGroup. And on a personal note, it was also fun to reconnect with my high school friend Laura Wagner, who works there as well. I always love when worlds collide like that!
