Yesterday, the NYC Board of Health passed a resolution condemning federal attacks on public health insurance coverage and reaffirming the city’s commitment to protecting New Yorkers’ access to care ahead of the January 2027 changes. At the same time, the NYC Health Department launched a new awareness campaign encouraging New Yorkers to enroll in low- to no-cost health insurance through free enrollment services. 🚨SNAP rules have changed. New federal rules mean that many more New Yorkers ages 18-64 must now meet work requirements to keep their SNAP benefits. We particularly need young adults, ages 18-30, to reach out for work, education, training, or volunteer opportunities to keep their benefits. These rules took effect on March 1, which means reductions in benefits could occur as early as June 1 for people who do not comply for three months. The HRA Benefits Access Center East New York staff welcomed Commissioner Erin Dalton to 2400 Fulton Street on May 6 for an on-site visit showcasing the vital work being carried out daily.
