  • We're proud to share NGHS was recently recognized as one of the top sites in the U.S. for the Intuitive dv5FF observational clinical trial, a study exploring how force feedback technology in the da Vinci 5 robotic surgery system can improve surgical outcomes. During the recent audit, the study manager praised our team's excellent enrollment numbers and strong focus on quality. Thank you to Drs. Fernando Aycinena, Parker Long, Chad Copper, and Karen Gersch for helping make this success possible.

  • This year, we celebrated Nurses Week in a big way across NGHS. Activities ranged from a formal nursing gala, to a nursing research symposium and everything in between. We’re grateful for all our nurses do year-round—and especially proud to celebrate them during Nurses Week. This year’s theme, “The Art of Nursing,” came to life through creative team celebrations, from painting to craft barista experiences, honoring the skill, compassion, and artistry our professional nursing staff bring to work each day.

  • Our Employee of the Month for March is Laura Willig! "I would like to recognize Laura for the exceptional contributions she makes to our Surgical Trauma ICU every day. While her official title is Unit Secretary, Laura consistently goes far beyond the responsibilities of her role and plays a vital part in the success and efficiency of our unit. Laura brings a positive attitude, energy, and willingness to help that sets the tone for the entire team. She is proactive and attentive, often identifying and addressing needs before they are even brought to her. Many times, she has already placed work orders for equipment or resolved issues before staff even have the opportunity to ask. Her attentiveness and initiative help keep our fast-paced unit running smoothly. Laura supports our clinical staff in numerous ways, including managing phone calls, assisting with faxing and copying important documents for patient charts, and helping troubleshoot equipment issues. Her knowledge and resourcefulness, especially when it comes to resolving issues with bed alarms or other equipment, help save valuable time and allow nurses to focus on patient care. She also contributes greatly to maintaining a positive and organized work environment. Laura frequently takes the initiative to tidy shared spaces, organize the breakroom, and help keep the unit clean and welcoming for staff. These efforts, though often behind the scenes, make a meaningful difference in the daily workflow and morale of our team. In addition, Laura helps strengthen the culture of our unit by coordinating lunch orders, assisting with celebrations such as baby showers, and supporting team events that bring staff together. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine care for others create a sense of community within our ICU. Laura is truly a cornerstone of our Surgical Trauma ICU. Her dedication, teamwork, and commitment to supporting those around her do not go unnoticed. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team, and she deserves recognition for the many ways she contributes to the success of our unit and the care of our patients." Thank you for all you do Laura! #nghs #nghsEOM
