I learned to "bet on young people" long ago watching my parents believe in + count on ambitious, grounded, and resourceful 20-something-year-old teachers. These wonderful humans stepped up to the plate and made a huge impact on my life and in the community. A lot of the conversation around AI right now assumes entry-level talent is becoming less valuable. We firmly believe the opposite at Nominal and are reaping the fruits of this belief! The wonderful Lindsay Ellis at the The Wall Street Journal highlighted Nominal’s decision to double our new grad hiring while much of the industry pulls back on early-career roles. Why? Nominal has an unbelievably talented group of early career Nomineers setting the pace (often equipped with AI) on their teams and delivering real, important outcomes. We’ve watched new grads walk in and immediately make meaningful contributions across our product, infrastructure, operations, mission teams. They naturally embody our core value of "Run with It" so much so that most of the impact was on quests they identified and did without being asked. AI is changing how work gets done, but it is also increasing the impact a curious and ambitious person can have from day one. We think that is a huge opportunity for people who are willing to learn quickly, take ownership, and care deeply about the mission. We also believe great teams are built across generations of experience. Senior Nomineers raise the floor and ceiling for everyone around them through mentorship, teaching, and hard-earned judgment. The best environments combine that experience with the energy and fresh perspective of young builders. Our goal is to create a place where obsessed people with a heart of gold can do the best work of their careers in service of hardware engineers building consequential systems. AI does not change that. If anything, it accelerates it. All Systems Nominal!

  • Nominal's sales team has tripled in the last 6 months. Every quarter we get the whole team in a room. Not to celebrate. To think. Which customers are the right ones to grow with? Where can we be a better partner? How do we explain what we build more clearly? So that's what we did in Austin last week. 25+ sales pros from across disciplines, one consistent theme: grow in a way that empowers our customers' missions. If that's how you think about sales, we'd like to talk. 🔗 nominal.io/careers

  • Pull the SD card. Run the parsing script. Hope the file format cooperated. That was Odys Aviation's flight test routine two years ago. Hours between landing and the first usable look at the data. Now flight telemetry streams live into Nominal during the test. Workbooks fill in as data arrives. The first review is ready within minutes of landing. That's the difference between iterating on a novel airframe and waiting on one.

  • Our customers can tell, in about three seconds, whether a website was made by people who know what they're talking about. They fly spacecraft. Build autonomous fighter jets. Ship defense systems that have to work the first time. Our marketing site is the first thing they see. We're hiring a Web Designer in Austin to own it. Landing pages, launch assets, narrative design. The work rewards care: type that's set right, motion that feels deliberate, pages that hold up on slow connections. Strong portfolio of shipped work matters more than years of experience. Framer or Webflow comfort, basic front-end chops, opinions about typography and motion. In office, Austin. If the design problem of "make this read as serious as the work behind it" sounds like fun, send a portfolio. Apply now: https://lnkd.in/gTaPGPe5

  • Two aircraft. One architecture. Built for two worlds. Odys Aviation's Laila is a 450-mile autonomous tactical cargo drone for defense logistics. Alta is a 1,200-mile crewed regional aircraft for civil aviation. Both run on the same flap-based thrust-vectoring, hybrid-electric propulsion stack. A program this ambitious lives or dies on test cadence. Odys streams flight telemetry live into Nominal. Flight test and ground test sit in one searchable catalog. Analysis begins before touchdown. Test flights per day are up 43%. Procedures and automated validation now run on Nominal Connect. The aircraft is the work. Link to case study in the comments. All Systems Nominal 🚀

  • Race engineers don't get a second take. Pratt Miller Motorsports ran two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs at Laguna Seca last weekend in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship. Nominal was live on the pit wall. Pit calls happen on a clock the cars set. PMM's engineers have what they need by the time the car crosses the line. They're the reason we're at the track this season. Engineered to win.

  • Hardware teams have more data than they have time. The gap between collection and understanding is where AI earns its keep, if it actually knows the domain. Nominal has acquired Fid Labs, a company that built AI agents for robotics and hardware workflows: connecting AI directly to dev environments, simulators, and physical hardware. Adam Wolnikowski, Fid Labs founder, joins as AI Product Lead. His job: make AI a native part of how engineering teams work inside Nominal. • One of the world's leading commercial fusion programs runs its control room monitoring on Nominal. So do propulsion test stands, naval test wings, and the production lines feeding some of the most demanding hardware programs across aerospace, defense, energy, robotics, motorsports, and advanced manufacturing. We're growing the GTM team that gets to walk into those rooms. Hiring now: • Account Executives in NYC, West Coast, Texas, and the UK • SDR Leader in Austin • SDR in Austin If you've sold technical software to engineers and you've been waiting for a category that actually matters, talk to us. 🔗 nominal.io/careers

If you're in NY on May 14th, come join PhysicsX, General Catalyst, and our team at Nominal for a breakfast for builders working in aerospace, defense, industrials, and AI. I'll be on a panel talking about the rapid development of mission critical hardware, and how Nominal handles software experimentation for mission critical and autonomous hardware systems. Apply at the link below and tell me you're coming! https://luma.com/isev24qj Thanks to Valeriya Barybina for organizing, and Sophie Scannell for getting us together with her brilliant former colleagues 🙂

The hardest part of AI in engineering isn't building the model. It's getting it into production. On May 14, we're bringing together forward-deployed engineers and technical leads from defense, aerospace, and industrial systems for a closed-door breakfast at the PhysicsX office in New York — hosted with Nominal and General Catalyst. The conversation will be honest and grounded: what deployment actually looks like in the field, from integrating AI into mission-critical workflows to navigating the friction that slows teams down. If you're building in this space, come talk with people who are doing the same. 🔗 Apply to join: https://luma.com/isev24qj

  • Thanks to Paul M. Nakasone, Brett Goldstein, and team for facilitating an incredible few days at the Vanderbilt University Asness Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats. Five years in, the summit continues to be a premier forum for dissecting the evolving landscape of modern conflict. It was an honor to engage with distinguished leaders like Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine and Senator Marsha Blackburn. We left with no doubt that partnerships and trust, strong leadership, and a relentless commitment to innovation are required to address the changing character of war. The highlight of the week was catching up with Eli Jiang, who joined the Nominal team as an intern last summer. Eli is coming back full-time after he graduates this spring. Attracting and retaining top-tier talent is core to our mission. Watching interns like Eli transition into full-time leaders is exactly why we support the Vanderbilt University Institute of National Security. Grateful to the organizers for including Nominal in these critical conversations. We’re already energized for the year ahead. 🚀
