  • For many individuals with autism, the school year provides more than education. It provides structure, predictability, and access to therapeutic supports that help maintain behavioral and emotional stability. When summer break disrupts those routines, some may experience regression, escalation, or functional decline that warrants closer clinical attention. In this edition of Nexus News, we examine how autism routine disruption during summer break affects stability, what signs may indicate behavioral destabilization, and when inpatient care may be the appropriate next step.

  • When behaviors intensify or routines become unmanageable, families caring for a child with Prader-Willi syndrome can quickly find themselves in crisis mode. In these moments, highly structured inpatient support can make all the difference. The Jump Start Program provides specialized inpatient care for children with PWS who need stabilization, medical oversight, and coordinated behavioral support. Our interdisciplinary teams focus on safety, regulation, and clear transition planning so families can move forward with greater stability and confidence. If your family or a family you support is navigating an acute period of challenge, our team is here to help identify the next appropriate step. • After a severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or neurological event, patients often leave the acute hospital medically stable but still requiring intensive rehabilitation and coordinated oversight. The Rise Program at Nexus Children’s Hospital provides hospital-level rehabilitation and ongoing medical care for pediatric patients recovering from complex neurological diagnoses. Our interdisciplinary teams focus on physical recovery, cognitive progress, behavioral stabilization, and caregiver education within a structured environment designed to bridge hospital to home. If you are supporting a patient whose needs extend beyond the acute stay, contact our admissions team to review clinical details and discuss next steps >> https://vist.ly/548b4 #braininjury #spinalcordinjury

  • Aggression in autism can be overwhelming for families, but it’s often a signal of distress, not defiance. Sensory overload, communication challenges, and anxiety can all contribute to these moments. Understanding the root causes is key to supporting both safety and long-term progress. In this edition of Nexus News, we explore common triggers, de-escalation strategies, and when more structured care may be needed.

  • Behavioral health is at a turning point, requiring health systems to adapt. The decisions being made in C-suites right now will shape the future of care for millions of people — and that conversation deserves the right voices in the room. We're proud to have our CEO, Erin Cassidy, on the upcoming panel "Behavioral Health at an Inflection Point: The View from the C-Suite" at McDermott HealthEx 2026, May 21st in Nashville.
