That is exactly what the Layered Counter-UAS Initiative (LCI-X) is designed to support. 🎯As one of NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)’s 2026 Beacon Projects, LCI-X brings together Allied nations, NATO commands, industry, and innovation actors to test how sensors, command-and-control systems, electronic warfare tools, and effectors can work together under realistic operational conditions. 🔬 Maintaining NATO’s advantage means connecting innovation directly to operational needs. 🤝 Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, and Mr. Steen Soenderagaard, NATO Chief Scientist & Chair of the Science and Technology Board (STB) have signed a structured partnership between NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and the NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO), creating a stronger and faster pipeline from research to operational impact. ⚙️ The agreement strengthens how NATO connects scientific research and emerging technologies with military transformation, capability development, experimentation, and operational delivery across the Alliance. 🧭 NATO ACT brings the military requirements, capability planning, warfare development, and transformation perspective. NATO STO contributes NATO’s scientific expertise, research networks, and experimentation capacity. They need to understand the challenges, decisions, and transformation efforts shaping the Alliance today. 🔍 NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) welcomed the 2026 cohort of the French Advanced Military Studies Centre (Centre des hautes études militaires). The visit offered an opportunity to explore how NATO’s strategic warfare development command works: connecting future threats, military requirements, innovation, experimentation, and capability development to help shape the Alliance NATO needs for the future. 🌐 Discussions focused on how NATO is adapting to a rapidly evolving security environment and accelerating military transformation to deliver a Multi-Domain Operations-enabled Alliance by 2030. That is exactly what the AI in Audacious Training beacon project is designed to support. 🎯 As one of NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)’s 2026 Beacon Projects, AI in Audacious Training is helping modernize how #NATO exercises are designed, controlled, and refined through practical AI-enabled tools that support exercise teams in building faster, more dynamic, and more realistic training scenarios. 🛠️ These efforts help exercise's planners generate exercise content, support opposing force responses, and streamline exercise control activities. That is exactly what SINBAD (Smart Indicators and Warning Broad Area Detection) is designed to support. 🌍 As one of NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)’s 2026 Beacon Projects, SINBAD is helping assess how commercially available satellite imagery and analytics can support Alliance needs through faster detection of visible changes, activity patterns, infrastructure developments, and broader situational awareness. 🤝 Developed in close coordination between NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and NATO - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), the pilot is focused on testing existing commercial solutions in a real user environment and understanding what practical value they can bring to the Alliance. 💬 As Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, states: “SINBAD highlights a new way of doing business: leveraging off-the-shelf innovation, fielding it rapidly to address new or existing military challenges, and continuously refining it through short improvement cycles. 🌍The transatlantic link is built through shared planning, shared innovation, and shared commitment to collective defence. 🤝This week at NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) Admiral Pierre Vandier received H.E. Detlef Wächter, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to NATO, alongside senior leaders and experts for key discussions shaping the Alliance’s future force and deterrence posture. ⚔️ Strategic discussions focused on strengthening NATO’s long-term military readiness and deterrence posture through initiatives such as the Strategic Reserve Analysis (SRA), the Future Force Study (FFS) and Force Lethality Enhancement eXtended (FLEX), as well as the Long Term Military Strategic Study (LTMSS) shaping options.
