  • During Nurses Week, we proudly celebrated our annual Nursing Excellence Awards, honoring the remarkable individuals who make Natividad exceptional. Our DAISY Award recipients are extraordinary nurses who were nominated by grateful patients or patient families for their compassion, skill and dedication at the bedside. The Partners in Caring Award, nominated by peers, recognizes clinicians who foster teamwork and collaboration to elevate patient care. Congratulations to each of our award winners! Thank you for your dedication and the positive difference you make every day! #NursesWeek #NatividadInspiringHealthyLives #NatividadMedicalFoundation

  • This Nurses Week, we’re honored to celebrate our most recent DAISY Award winners. Each was nominated by a patient or patient's family member for going above and beyond in delivering exceptional care, compassion and kindness at the bedside every single day.🌼 Though our DAISY Nurses often say, “I didn’t do anything special. I was just doing my job,” what they may not realize is that their dedication leaves a lasting impact — not just on their patients, but on entire families and our community.🌼 To all of our nurses, thank you for choosing this vital profession and for the extraordinary skill, empathy and commitment you show every day. And to our DAISY Award winners, congratulations! You inspire us all.🌼 #NursesWeek #NatividadMedicalFoundation #TheDaisyAward

  • 🅰️ Natividad Gets an "A" for Hospital Safety from The Leapfrog Group🅰️ Natividad Medical Center has earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2026 from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog gives hospitals a grade from “A” to “F” to show how well they protect patients from mistakes, accidents and infections. “Natividad puts safety first in everything we do,” said Natividad CEO Dr. Chad Harris. “We are committed to caring for our community and providing high-quality, safe, award-winning care for all.” “An "A" Grade is a strong sign that Natividad is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.” The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries cause more than 500 patient deaths a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. Visit HospitalSafetyGrade.org for more info. #HospitalSafetyGrade

  • From patient to practitioner — and back to Natividad. Emily Reistetter’s career pivot began not in a classroom, but in an exam room at Natividad Medical Center. During her second pregnancy, her OB/GYN, Dr. Peter Chandler, suggested she try a plant-based diet to address a digestive problem she’d been managing unsuccessfully for months. The results arrived in three days. “It solved a problem I had been dealing with for months in just three days. It was life-changing.” That moment sparked a complete career change. Reistetter left her job, enrolled in nutrition courses, and ultimately earned a Master’s in Holistic Nutrition from the American College of Healthcare Sciences, followed by board certification from the Institute of Restorative Health. She now runs Grounded Health & Wellness, a practice focused on gut health and whole-person wellness. On Wednesday, April 22, she returns to Natividad as a featured chef at the hospital’s weekly Farmers’ Market — a full-circle moment that speaks to the power of integrating clinical care with community wellness. Her demo, Braised Chard with Creamy Polenta, begins at noon and is free and open to the public. The market runs 10:00 am – 2:30 pm at 1441 Constitution Blvd., Salinas, in partnership with Everyone’s Harvest. “Food can be medicine,” said Chief Ancillary and Support Services Officer Andrea Rosenberg. “When someone explores a new flavor, recipe or vegetable at our year-round farmers’ market, it’s one way Natividad can inspire healthy lives.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gMyScqDD Check out her full story here: https://lnkd.in/gTrgwMv2 #HolisticNutrition #WellnessLeadership #GutHealth #NatividadInspiringHealthyLives #EveryonesHarvest #FarmersMarket

  • At Natividad, compassion isn’t limited to our clinical teams — it runs throughout our entire organization. Last week, our Information Technology department demonstrated that beautifully. The team took it upon themselves to purchase and personally deliver Easter baskets to children currently hospitalized in our Pediatric Unit. Each basket was thoughtfully filled with Easter bunnies, chicks, eggs, carrots, coloring books and crayons — small gifts designed to bring comfort and joy to kids during a challenging time. This is what makes Natividad special: a culture where every department, every team member and every role contributes to the well-being of our patients and community. We are proud of our IT team and grateful for the reminder that the heart of health care is human connection. #NatividadInspiringHealthyLives #EasterJoy #Pediatrics #SpreadingJoy #CommunityLove #CompanyCulture

  • We are so proud of Dr. Melissa Nothnagle. She just received the Nikitas J. Zervanos Outstanding Program Director Award from the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors and the American Academy of Family Physicians — the highest national honor for a family medicine residency program director. And here's the thing: there are more than 800 accredited family medicine residency programs in the country. This award isn't just given out every year — it's only presented when an outstanding candidate exists. Dr. Nothnagle has directed residency programs for more than 14 years. At Natividad, she sees her own patients, practices obstetrics, teaches at the bedside, and leads a residency deeply committed to serving the diverse communities of Monterey County. As her colleague Dr. Marc Tunzi put it: "The residents adore her, the family medicine faculty revere her, the specialty faculty respect her and the institutional leadership leans on her." Congratulations, Dr. Nothnagle. Natividad is lucky to have you.
