As the USA prepares to celebrate its 250th year, and @Fort Valley State University marks 130 years of excellence, I am reflecting on my own 31st year of teaching. The true measure of these years isn't found in a calendar, but in the students I have had the honor to teach, advise, and mentor. This class of 2026 is a testament to the power of a dedicated HBCU community: 🎓 Kadyn Baker: Our 4.0 Valedictorian (Chemistry) moving to the University of Alabama for Engineering. 🎓 Charity Smith: Summa Cum Laude (Chemistry) also heading to the University of Alabama for Engineering. 🌍 Malachi Glover: Taking his Mathematics expertise to the University of Texas at Austin for Geosciences. 🌍 Ariyanna Reedy: Moving into the Geosciences Graduate Program at Miami University. 🛡️ Maurice Releford: Transitioning from our research programs into the critical field of Safety & Quality Control. 🍎 Ar'deja Neely & Adayla Jefferson: Our future Middle Grades science teachers who are already GACE-certified and ready to lead.
