  • The Nakupuna Companies are proud to welcome Jennifer Sabas to our Board of Advisors. Jennifer brings more than three decades of leadership across government, national security, and community development. As the owner of Kaimana Hila, she advises Hawaiʻi and national organizations on engagement with federal agencies, Congress, and state and local governments. She also serves as President of the Daniel K. Inouye Institute, advancing partnerships and programs that preserve Senator Inouye’s legacy while inspiring future generations. Jennifer’s distinguished career includes over 25 years working for U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye, including as his Chief of Staff, where she helped shape federal priorities supporting national security, military readiness, and critical investments in Hawaiʻi. “Jennifer understands, at a fundamental level, how enduring progress is built through trusted relationships and clear alignment between plans and execution,” said Nakupuna CEO Jason Greenawalt. “Her perspective will sharpen how we deliver for our federal customers, expand our capabilities, and continue to translate success into meaningful opportunities that align with our mission as a Native Hawaiian Organization.” We are honored to have Jennifer join our Board as we continue to strengthen our support to federal missions and expand our impact through the Nakupuna Foundation across Hawaiʻi and beyond. https://lnkd.in/eSsXnXT7 #Nakupuna #NakupunaCompanies #NHO8a #BoardofAdvisors

  • Happy Founder’s Day! Across Nakupuna, our teams recently came together to celebrate the life of our founder, Warren Nakupuna Ah Loo, sharing a simple moment of reflection—and chocolate cake! After more than three decades of public service supporting the Air Force, Army, and Navy, Warren founded Na Aliʻi Consulting & Sales in 2003 to continue serving his country while expanding economic opportunities for his Native Hawaiian community. That purpose remains the core of who we are today. As a trusted partner to the federal government, our work extends beyond our customers and into our communities. Through our nonprofit owner, the Nakupuna Foundation, we are helping invest in scholarships, workforce development, and programs that open doors for future generations. More than a legacy, Warren’s vision is a responsibility we carry forward together. Happy Birthday, Warren. #NakupunaCompanies #NakupunaFoundation #FoundersDay #NHO8a

  • At the Native American Contractors Association conference, Chris Grocki, PMP joined a panel discussion on the evolving Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) landscape and what it means for Native enterprises competing in the federal marketplace. “CMMC success is not about buying tools. It’s about proving disciplined, repeatable protection of sensitive information every day. When compliance becomes part of your operating model, certification is just validation.” The conversation reinforced several realities for defense contractors: • CMMC must be embedded across IT, contracts, HR, and program management. Not siloed within cybersecurity. • Legal entity structure, CAGE alignment, and assessment scope require careful coordination for ANCs, NHOs, and Tribal enterprises. • Cloud platforms like GCC High enable compliance, but governance, configuration, and evidence discipline determine success. • Subcontractor risk and flow-down requirements must be addressed early and deliberately. • Early, well-executed certification can serve as a competitive differentiator. For Native-owned enterprises, disciplined cybersecurity governance supports both mission execution and long-term growth in the federal space. Thank you to NACA for convening an important discussion on what is now a business imperative for defense contractors. #NakupunaCompanies #Nakupuna #NHO8a #CMMC #GovCon #CybersecurityCompliance

  • We were proud to support the Nakupuna Foundation in hosting the E Hui Kākou mixer at our Arlington office. It was a privilege to welcome Native Hawaiian organizations and Hawaiʻi-based partners to connect, collaborate, and engage during a busy week in Washington, DC. These conversations, spanning advocacy, industry, and community leadership, reflect the broader ecosystem that strengthens the Native 8(a) program and advances economic opportunity nationwide. Connection. Community. Collaboration. That’s what E Hui Kākou was all about. #NakupunaFoundation #NakupunaCompanies #Nakupuna #NHO8a #HawaiiInDC #StrongerTogether

Earlier this month, the Nakupuna Foundation was honored to welcome Native Hawaiian organizations and Hawaiʻi community partners to our Arlington office for an evening of connection and conversation. More than 50 leaders and community champions gathered for our E Hui Kākou mixer, bringing together voices from policy, business, and service, all under one roof. Guests toured our Nakupuna office, strengthened relationships, and enjoyed local favorites from Aloha CR3W Catering. We were grateful to connect with partners, including the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Partners In Development Foundation, E Ala E Hawaiian Cultural Center, Keiki O Ka Aina Family Learning Center, APIA Scholars, and many others who are advancing opportunities for our lāhui across the country. Moments like this remind us that strong communities are built through connection, collaboration, and shared commitment. Mahalo to everyone who joined us!     #NakupunaFoundation #NakupunaCompanies #Nakupuna #NHO8a #EHuiKakou #HawaiiInDC #StrongerTogether

  • Programs like this reflect a solemn commitment to Soldiers and their families. We are proud to support Army's efforts to transition from fragmented legacy systems to a solution like IPPS-A that offers faster, more reliable delivery of benefits when it matters most. Congratulations to our customers and the Nakupuna Army Military Payroll team for accelerating support to Service members.

The Death Gratuity Program, which provides immediate relief for surviving families of Service Members that have died while on active duty or while serving in certain reserve statuses, is now processed completely in IPPS-A. This migration replaces manual workflows with an efficient, auditable system that executes timely and accurate payments. • At the National Small Business Federal Contracting Summit, our Chief Compliance Officer, Daphne Tong-Pave, joined an expert panel to discuss the evolving landscape of federal compliance. Alongside Pamela Finnesand of Ahtna, Inc., Amanda Merced of Ward & Berry, PLLC, and Kristen Doughty of Aleut, the discussion centered on risk mitigation, key lessons learned, and how to design compliance programs that build trust and resilience. A few key takeaways: ✔ Strong compliance is more than just checking a box, it’s a strategic advantage. ✔ Building a culture of integrity starts with clear expectations and ongoing education. ✔ Transparency, accountability, and adaptability are critical in today’s regulatory environment. Mahalo to the fellow panelists for sharing their insights! #NakupunaCompanies #NHO8a #MissionDriven #Nakupuna #NativeHawaiianOrganization
