  • "Our goal is to help women get their treatment needs met and optimized for better outcomes and improved quality of life for themselves and generations to come." says Dr. Kristina Reigstad, PsyD, LP, of the M Health Fairview Women's Wellbeing Program she co-directs. Maternal mental health is one of the most pressing health needs in Minnesota, touching every stage of a woman's reproductive journey. According to the Minnesota Maternal Mortality Report, 95% of maternal deaths are preventable. Yet stigma, limited access to care, and structural barriers like paid leave continue to stand in the way. The Women's Wellbeing Program is working to change that. Led by our M Physicians reproductive psychiatrist Dr. Tolu Odebunmi and co-founded by M Physicians psychologists Dr. Reigstad and Colleen Doyle, PhD, the program provides mental health screenings, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing care for patients before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as through other major reproductive milestones like menopause. One of the biggest barriers our providers work to overcome? Stigma. The fear of being judged, or of consequences for speaking up, keeps too many people from seeking the help they need. Because Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are almost always treatable, the team meets patients where they are, instills hope for recovery, and is committed to breaking that cycle, helping every patient build a happy, healthy life ahead. #womenshealth #maternalmentalhealth #womensreproductivehealth #perinatalmentalhealth

When 11-year-old Oliver Gilpin’s severe acid reflux didn’t respond to standard treatments, our care teams took a different approach. Pediatric gastroenterologist Aayush Gabrani, MD, with M Health Fairview and the University of Minnesota Medical School, performed an endoscopic procedure commonly used in adults — marking the first time it had been performed in a child. The result: no surgery and the relief Oliver has been searching for. Today, he is pain-free and back to being a kid. This is how breakthroughs happen: driven by teams who don’t stop searching for answers and a young patient brave enough to try something new.

She came home from school with a lump in her neck. The next day, she was diagnosed with high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma. When Kirsten Kosbab’s life changed overnight, care teams from across Fairview and University of Minnesota Physicians helped her find a new path forward. A newer treatment combining chemotherapy with immunotherapy helped Kirsten’s body battle cancer, avoiding the need for radiation and the long-term risks that come with it. Today, Kirsten is cancer-free. Her story is a testament to the true strength of our long-standing partnership with University of Minnesota Physicians, and how our new expanded clinical partnership will continue to move care forward. Last year, we launched a first-of-its-kind helicopter-supported ECMO program at M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center, enabling specialized teams to reach rural Minnesota quickly and provide advanced cardiac support for patients in cardiac arrest. This model is a meaningful step forward in reducing time to treatment and expanding access to advanced care beyond traditional settings – especially when minutes can determine outcomes. It’s also a reflection of what sustained partnership can achieve. Fairview’s and University of Minnesota Physicians' expanded clinical partnership agreement continues to strengthen how we deliver care—together—across Minnesota. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gHs7UZ_w

  • “This is my first time ever working in a clinic where we're teaching doctors to be better, to go out there and do great things." Tomika Angus, a clinical service assistant at the M Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic, explains how the clinic shows up in the community and trains the next generation of Minnesota’s doctors: "I feel like that's what makes Broadway stand out, especially in the community that it is in.” The M Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic has been serving the North Minneapolis community for more than 40 years. But in addition to providing the full range of family medicine, pediatric medicine, school- and sports physicals, the clinic is dedicated to community service beyond the exam room. #communityhealthcare #familymedicine #communitycare #academicmedicine

Lennox Staricha became the first child in the Upper Midwest to receive a living partial heart transplant — a groundbreaking procedure using donor tissue that can grow with them. Fewer than 60 of these procedures have been performed nationwide. For infants with complex congenital heart disease, it offers the possibility of fewer surgeries and a stronger future. Breakthroughs like this don’t happen alone. They’re built on decades of partnership, expertise, and a shared commitment to patients. Fairview’s and University of Minnesota Physicians' renewed and expanded clinical partnership agreement: Strategic Partnership for Minnesota’s Healthcare Future will continue to move medicine forward for patients like Lennox. Explore Lennox’s story and more to see how our partnership is shaping the future of care. https://lnkd.in/gHs7UZ_w
