According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), high blood pressure affects nearly 119.9 million adults in the United States. It may not cause any obvious symptoms but, if left untreated, it can cause big problems like heart disease, stroke and kidney issues. If you have concerns about your blood pressure, seek help from your doctor. The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, together with Molina Healthcare of Illinois, announced a $25,000 grant to Bless’It Beauty Salon, NFP in support of their Styling Toward Success Pathway Program. Through this investment, Molina is empowering individuals who are pursuing a career as a beautician by helping them obtain their Natural Hair and Braiding license. The average unemployment rate among Black Illinoisians is 9.6%, exceeding the state’s average of 4.6%. To address unemployment gaps and support career development, this grant will fund administrative support, instructor staffing and materials for the program. Molina Healthcare of Washington is proud to donate a $10,000 grant to NEW Health, a federally qualified health center serving communities in Northeast Washington. This funding will support scholarships for NEW Health University, an initiative that prepares rural youth and employees through training and education to strengthen Washington’s health care workforce.
