  • GOLD MEDAL VOLUNTEER! Through his commitment to volunteerism and passion for working with younger generations of #MUSD students, 16-year-old #MilpitasHS junior Akash Sriram was recently awarded the 2026 Congressional Award Gold Medal. “I aspire to become a pediatrician because I love working with kids and helping them. Through my current tutoring work, I've learned how to connect with children in a positive way and be more understanding of their different needs,” Akash shared. “I've been lucky to have amazing mentors both at school and in my community who have guided me and shown me what good mentorship looks like.” To earn this congressional honor, the #MHS-#curtnerelementary-#TRMS alumnus logged a minimum of 400 hours of Voluntary Public Service, 200 hours of Personal Development, 200 hours of Physical Fitness, and a five-day, four-night Expedition or Exploration. • #MUSD Board President Norwood's latest column, A Message of Hope to our MUSD Community, was featured in our latest SchoolLIFE e-newsletter: https://conta.cc/4t77LFe "In times like these, it’s important to pause and acknowledge what many of us are feeling. Life has not been easy. From academic pressures and social challenges to economic uncertainty and personal hardships, each of you has carried burdens—some visible, many unseen. While we may hope the road ahead becomes smoother, we must also prepare for continued challenges. Within challenges there are struggles and within those struggles lies something powerful: hope." • Check out #MUSD Superintendent Jordan's latest column, MUSD draws from possibility and relationship in these changing and challenging times, which published with our SchoolLIFE e-newsletter. "The actions of inhumanity spotlighted in the news along with the backdrop of national and international concerns weighs on us. The exponential speed that artificial intelligence is affecting the future of work and how we engage through social media adds to the mix of uncertainty. Education in MUSD; however, responds through the realm of possibility and relationship. In our Milpitas community we thrive through our connections to one another and our constant drive towards Strategic Commitment #1-- Building a Culture of We." • INVESTMENT IN INNOVATION! Our #MUSD Innovation Campus students and staff, as well as district, school and city leaders, welcomed Representative Ro Khanna for a Friday afternoon campus visit. Rep. Khanna secured $500,000 in the Appropriations Fiscal Year 2026 to help fund the #MUSD Workforce Development Center, part of the underway Phase 3 construction. This was part of 13 projects Rep. Khanna requested funding for in CA 17th District. He also presented a commendation to #MUSD Board of Education President Chris Norwood. "This funding will be used to build a Workplace Development Center to retool and reinvigorate a low-income area in Milpitas," reads a press release from Khanna's office. "At the crossroads of Hwy 237 and Hwy 680 in Milpitas lies the 'Triangle of Greatest Need, where more than 50% of the residents are low income and working one paycheck away from becoming unhoused; the residents need workforce development to fuel the heart of the advanced manufacturing industry." • MUSD Celebrates Soft Opening of State of the Art Performing Arts Center The Milpitas community gathered to celebrate a major milestone for local arts and education as the doors opened to the brand-new Milpitas Performing Arts Center, where a ceremonial Ribbon Cutting took place on March 19, 2026, at the center’s home on the Milpitas High School (MHS) campus, 1285 Escuela Parkway, Milpitas. The celebratory event kicked off with vibrant musical performances from the #MHS jazz band ensemble, followed by a warm welcome from Superintendent Cheryl Jordan that highlighted the student talent the facility was built to serve. "This is where #MUSD learners will experience pathways on and all around the stage; pathways such as public speaking, dance and movement, instrumental and vocal, acting and directing, production, and stage design. If they can see it, they can be it!” said Superintendent Jordan. Read full press release: https://lnkd.in/ggr5Qj-t Together, WE are #MUSDfamily!

  • Greetings Everyone, I am reaching out on behalf of the Milpitas Unified School District to invite your business to partner with us as a sponsor for the upcoming Milpitas Elementary Olympics (MEO), which will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026. About the MEO: The MEO is an all-day, friendly Olympic-style competition that brings together 4th through 6th-grade students from our 10 elementary schools. Participants compete in eight different events for gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as the prestigious MEO Relay Championship Trophy and MEO Overall School Points Championship Trophy. Why Sponsor the MEO? Sponsorships are vital to making this event a success and offer a unique opportunity to highlight your products and services to a captive, local audience. The event represents hundreds of our families within our school district, bringing together elementary students, teachers, support staff, administrators, and high school volunteers from Milpitas HS, Middle College HS and Calaveras Hills HS. Partnering with us is a wonderful way to showcase your business's support for the community, elementary school families, and international diversity. 2026 Sponsorship Packages We offer a variety of sponsorship tiers designed to provide excellent visibility for your organization: GOLD Title Sponsor (Beginning at $5,000): Your company will be advertised on all MEO apparel in the largest font and in the event program. You will also be able to set up an information booth at the event and present the MEO School Overall Points Champion Trophy. SILVER Title Sponsor (Beginning at $2,500): Your company will be advertised on all MEO apparel in a large font and in the event program. This tier includes an information booth, presenting the MEO Relay Champion Trophy, and helping award medals. BRONZE Title Sponsor (Beginning at $1,000): Your company will be advertised on all MEO apparel in a regular font and in the event program. You will have the opportunity to set up an information booth and help award medals to the winning students in any of the 8 individual events. MEO Sponsor (Beginning at $250+): Your company will be advertised on all MEO apparel in a small font and featured in the event program. We would love to discuss how we can collaborate to make the 2026 Milpitas Elementary Olympics an unforgettable experience for our local youth. For more information: https://lnkd.in/gaCyG-xa Thank you for your time and for your continued support of our community's children. Warm regards, Scott Milpitas Elementary Olympics Coordinator
