As our Founding Month celebration continues, we’re spotlighting projects that reflect Michael Baker International’s spirit of innovation and technical excellence. Michael Baker designed and managed the construction of the 4,300-foot horizontal directionally drilled (HDD) Colville River Pipeline Crossing. The biggest challenge was getting across the Colville River, which drains more than 20,000-square-miles into the Arctic Ocean. Designed to protect the river in the event of pipe failure, this was the first time a cased-steel pipeline had been installed in an arctic HDD river crossing and the first time a fiber-optic sensor in the steel casing had been used for leak detection. Michael Baker International announced today that Daniel Craig, President of Michael Baker and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tidal Basin Group, has been appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on the Board of Directors of the Florida Development Finance Corporation (FDFC). The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The Florida Development Finance Corporation is a statewide development financing authority governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Executive Office of the Governor. FDFC supports economic development across Florida through financing programs, including private activity bonds, 501(c)(3) financing, manufacturing, renewable energy, taxable bonds, project financing and Commercial PACE.
