Why We’re Investing in Human Creative in the Age of AI AI is making creative production easier, but strategy and storytelling matter more than ever. For the past year there’s been a lot of conversation about AI replacing creative work. And to be clear, AI is an incredible tool. But at Logical Media Group we’ve made a decision that might seem counterintuitive: We’re investing more in human creative talent. More designers. More copywriters. More creative direction. Why? Because AI can generate content. But great marketing isn’t about content, it’s about ideas. The best creative work requires someone who can: • Understand a business problem • Translate that into a message • Build a narrative around a product or service • And connect that message to how real people think and behave AI can help produce assets faster. But it still needs someone who understands strategy, positioning, and storytelling. That’s where great creative teams come in. In fact, what we’re seeing across the industry right now is the opposite of what people expected: The more content the internet produces, the more valuable truly thoughtful creative becomes. Brands that win over the next decade won’t just publish more content. They’ll publish better ideas. And that work still starts with people. #humancreative

A massive win for anyone who produces intellectual property was passed down on Monday — only humans can be authors. This ruling-by-rejection from the Supreme Court has resurfaced an assumption I made years ago that explains the gap between those who love and see value in AI generated work and those who hate it: It comes down to experience. Consistently, we see those without earnest experience in fields of coding, design, writing, UX, etc. praising the quality of work coming out of AI. Meanwhile, there are experts in their fields repeatedly decrying it as garbage. The AI folks insist that the detractors are simply nay-sayers, frightened that a program can do the work they've spent their lives developing at the same level, 10x as fast. Zealots, they say. Which made me realize... They resent skilled workers more than you can possibly know. AI is not a democratizer. It does not break down barriers and make accessible the skills and prowess gatekept by some lucky few who were ordained at birth with a talent only granted by a higher power. It provides lowly-skilled people with poor work ethic access to an ability they feel entitled to. Writing is hard. Coding is hard. Design is hard. Analysis is hard. What these people don't understand is that easy doesn't equal good — and they don't have the skills and experience necessary to discern the difference. They've never worn hand-tailored garments and cannot tell the difference between that and a jacket from Zara. And they resent that. They want the praise. The speed. The product. The success. The material gain without needing to go through the work to achieve it. The same people who believe that having the idea deserves 100% of the credit. AI is a moral issue and it is one directly related to work ethic and respect.

Here’s a simple way to evaluate how a keyword is really performing that brings organic and paid together. Instead of looking at “average position” or CPC in isolation, I like to score each core query across a small set of dimensions on a 1–10 scale and plot them on a radar chart: SEO rank (above‑the‑fold visibility) CTR (how often a view becomes a click) Search top / absolute‑top impression share Quality / relevance score Conversion rate (Optional) ROAS or revenue per click When you see the shape of the chart, the priorities usually become obvious: ➡️ High rank + high CTR, but low top impression share → focus on eligibility, budget, and bidding so you show in prime positions more often. ➡️ Great visibility, weak conversion → focus on landing‑page experience, pricing clarity, trust signals, and funnel friction. ➡️ Strong conversion, weak visibility → double down on that page/offer with more coverage (SEO content, paid expansion, or both). Behind the scenes, all of this just uses data most teams already have: Search Console for organic visibility and CTR, ad platforms for impression share and quality score, and analytics for conversion and revenue. The value comes from reading them together at the keyword level and isolating the real bottleneck for a specific query.

Thank you John Kampas, 🍀John Morris🍀, and the whole EMPIST squad for hosting Kevin Hughes and me at the Tech One, Two podcast! Awesome setup and even greater conversation. Loved talking about our two worlds and how we are leveraging technology to make a greater impact on both the IT and Digital Markting space. Looking forward to our next visit and bringing some guests. Also glad I was able to rally despite my crutches! See you boys soon

I had the pleasure of hosting the The Economic Club of Chicago last night for a Member Exchange. Thank you for attending and engaging in an extraordinary conversation! Erin Kerr John Head Rizwan Khan Sandy Li, CPA, MBA Garret Fitzgerald Veronika Rockova Julieta LaMalfa Dave Lesperance Kristin Miller Business First AM / Angela Miles Michelle Brown Richard Doran Douglas Jackman Christopher Deutsch Jackson Pallas, PhD, DBA Brian Septon Tarrah Cooper Wright Aimee Nolan Bernard Edelman Laura Dunne William F. Burfeind Ronald Grais DeRondal Bevly My core message was simple: AI is Boring, and That’s Why it’s Working. I shared the journey of the first two AI agents we built at LMG: HARRY: Our Operations Manager. SAGE: Our PPC Data Analyst. By treating these agents like team members, giving them a specific "brain," a set of tools, and a clear job description, we’ve been able to eliminate the "drudge work," freeing our 40 person team to focus on high value activities. The takeaways from our session: Move Slow to Go Fast: Don’t try to flip your organization upside down overnight. Start small, celebrate the "boring" wins, and build momentum. Learning Over Launching: The brands that win aren't the ones that deploy the most prototypes; they are the ones that learn the fastest. Adoption Over Sophistication: A simple agent that the team actually trusts and uses is worth ten over engineered systems that sit on a shelf. Curiosity is a Requirement: Success in 2026 requires a dedicated culture of continuous learning and a genuine curiosity about how these tools can assist our human talent. It was inspiring to hear from fellow members who are navigating their own "misstarts and successes." As one attendee noted, we’re all moving ahead without absolute clarity, but gathering the lessons that make the next project better. ALSO - I have to work on my "get in to the timer photo" faster! Well, at least we got a good shot of the group...and my back :) Thank you to everyone from the The Economic Club of Chicago and Logical Media Group who attended and shared their insights. #AI #DigitalTransformation #Leadership #EconomicClubOfChicago #LogicalMediaGroup #Automation

Some brands just get it. Yesterday I stopped by XVP Studios and was immediately welcomed. Not just with a smile, but with personalized mentions of me and Logical Media Group woven into their space and experience. It was unexpected, and authentic. Critical to never forget: brands aren’t just about what they do, but how they make you feel. The best ones find small, human ways to make a lasting impression. Whether it’s the warmth of a welcome, the personalization of a pitch, or the way a team shows they’ve really done their homework. It all matters. Thanks to the Jeff Goldstein, Jesse Walker, Paskal Pawlicki, and Mark Goldstein for the warm welcome and a reminder of what great branding feels like. 👏 #BrandExperience #CX #ClientPartnership #MarketingMatters #LogicalMediaGroup

Derek Thompson published a brilliant piece yesterday called The Monks in the Casino, spotlighting how modern systems make it easy to chase cheap dopamine—and hard to build anything that lasts. This quote really resonates with me: "In the U.S., it’s easy to build or play in an online casino, and hard to build an actual playground." His point was about regulation, but it applies to professional life too. We’ve unintentionally designed our work systems to discourage friction. Not just hard work, but the kind of work that requires patience, presence, and depth. We’ve made it easier to automate communication than have an honest conversation. Easier to ship dashboards than sit with complexity. Easier to work remotely than build in-person trust. And AI, for all its power, didn’t cause this shift. It just revealed the scaffolding we’d already built: optimize for speed, strip out the human, avoid the mess. This has been top of mind for me lately, especially as I’m reviewing material from our recent client event at Logical. A great reminder that real community still matters. That showing up still works. Grateful to be part of a team that seeks out and serves that kind of depth and equally grateful for a client network that has the energy to show up and build alongside us.

What you don’t see in the final production… Events like the one we just hosted at our office don’t happen by accident.  What you see in the finished product is polish, lighting, sound, and ideas brought to life. What you don’t see is the 30-foot ladder I climbed to fix a projector screen! Or the 50 chairs we set up one by one. Or the hours of planning, coordination, testing, rehearsing, and last minute pivots that go into making a few hours of magic seem effortless. Leadership isn’t about staying above the fray. It’s about being close enough to the work to feel it. Being clear enough in your vision to inspire others to join you. The real magic is in the way people show up for each other. That’s what makes these moments possible. To the Logical team: THANK YOU! You made the event not just successful but meaningful for so many. To anyone building something bold, remember, enabling outcomes and energizing others is the work. The vision is just the start. Execution is the difference and working alongside amazing people, powers the whole thing. #Leadership #BehindTheScenes #Teamwork #EventPlanning #CEOThoughts
