We applaud Duke University and Duke University Health System for leveraging their influence and resources as local anchors to strengthen our community. Duke has long recognized the critical role that Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), like LCCU, play in expanding access to opportunity. We are thrilled to see the HomeGrown initiative build on that legacy by supporting access to housing and driving community wealth-building through investments in local CDFIs. We deeply value our partnership with Duke and look forward to continuing to collaborate to make HomeGrown a lasting success for the entire community! #DukeHomeGown #CDFIs
Thrilled to launch #DukeHomeGrown, a $203m commitment by Duke University to expand economic opportunities across the #Triangle. With the community, we've created a clear and transparent framework and set of goals to guide the role Duke plays in creating upward mobility for residents in Durham, Orange, and Wake counties. This means increased local hiring, more spending with Triangle-based businesses, and more investment in affordable housing. You can see the goals and upcoming engagement opportunities at homegrown.duke.edu. Today is an important milestone, and we are excited about the work ahead. I'm grateful to the many partners who helped shape this work and whom we are fortunate to join forces with to make this happen —to the benefit of Durham, the Triangle, and Duke. Cheers! https://lnkd.in/dpZzft_e

Latino Community Credit Union was honored to participate in a ‘fire side chat’ at the Carolinas Asset Funders Network Steering Committee’s quarterly meeting. Christi Baker, AFN's Director of Strategic Initiative led a conversation on “Advancing Economic Opportunities through Community Development Financial Institutions” with Gabriel Treves-Kagan, our VP of Strategic Partnerships and Capital, and Neill Goslin, Self-Help Credit Union’s Director of Development. Thanks to all the AFN Steering Committee members for a robust and actionable conversation! Working together, we will continue to advance our common goal to increase access to capital to support equitable wealth building and economic mobility. #CDFIs, #wealthbuilding, #economicmobility

Black History Month at LCCU At Latino Community Credit Union, we believe that honoring history strengthens the future we are building together. This year, our employees came together to organize a meaningful Black History Mini Museum at our headquarters in Durham — created by our team, for our entire LCCU community. Through collaboration, learning, and shared commitment, they built a space to recognize and celebrate the legacy, resilience, leadership, and cultural contributions of the Black community. We are proud of the initiative, teamwork, and heart that made this celebration possible. #BlackHistoryMonth #LCCU #Inclusion #Community #StrongerTogether

Latino Community Credit Union (LCCU) was truly honored to be recognized with the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award at the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation's award gala in Charlotte, NC. LCCU’s CEO, Vicky Garcia, and Chief Lending Officer, Irving Bustillo, were proud to be there among their esteemed colleagues to accept the award. This prestigious award means a lot to everyone at LCCU because it recognizes credit unions that put the philosophy of “People Helping People” into real, practical action, through programs and services that empower members. It is named after Louise Herring, a true champion of the credit union movement. Louise believed that financial institutions should work to ensure everyone has access to opportunity. For LCCU, this recognition reflects the deep commitment to our members that is behind our transition to a new core system and modern bilingual digital platform that has empowered our members with greater functionality, convenience, and security. #PeopleHelpingPeople #CreditUnionDifference #FinancialInclusion
