Students from CEC in Mrs. Lefever, Mrs. Keyrouse, and Mr. Price’s classes had a great time at the Stormers baseball game! They practiced communication and listening skills and many students discovered a new, enjoyable leisure activity. It was a beautiful day, and we loved sharing this fun experience with our families. #workworthdoing ⚾

Students from S.J. Popiel's classroom visited the IU13 STEM lab at Burle. After listening carefully to Giovanna Chamberlain's instruction, they had a chance to work collaboratively to create a working Ferris wheel using micro bits and a circuit. #workworthdoing 🎡

The Lebanon Work Immersion interns traveled to Bethlehem to visit Bitty & Beau’s Coffee. Interns were able to speak with the owner of the Bethlehem location and several employees to learn about the company and how they support individuals with disabilities. All of the employees they met have been employed since 2022 since the location opened! They were able to give great advice to the interns about being successful in the workplace, which will be very beneficial as they all start their jobs in the coming weeks. Bitty & Beau’s was founded by Ben and Amy Wright in North Carolina in 2017 as a way to provide employment for their 2 children with Down Syndrome, as well as other community members with intellectual disabilities. They now have 17 locations across the country and employ over 400 individuals with disabilities. They are known as a “human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop.” Check it out if you get a chance! #workworthdoing

Students from the Material Handling and Logistics (MHL) Program, who were waiting for the employment opportunities to begin, had the opportunity to volunteer at the Historic Ephrata Cloister this Spring. The students assisted with various tasks such as spring cleanup, mowing & edging, painting/staining outdoor furniture, and pressure washing. Students enrolled in the MHL Program not only learn technical, employability, and independent living skills, but also the value of volunteering and giving back to the community. Our five MHL students put a combined total of 62.5 hours in at the Ephrata Cloister! 🌱#workworthdoing
