This was a wonderful opportunity to see the former Chicago Spire site finally coming to life through development. A special thank you to Related Companies for giving us the opportunity to tour the project and for your generosity of also allowing us to visit the basement level, where the original Chicago Spire rock caissons can still be seen. A personal delightful treat!.

The CVU Chicago Chapter held a behind-the-scenes tour of the 400 North Lake Shore Drive development this past week. The team toured the 858’ under-construction tower, which once completed will include 600+ residential units along with ground-level retail and 4.5 acres of open and green space. Phase One of the project is expected to be completed in early 2027. Thank you to Related Companies and LR Contracting for the great tour.

  • Chicago Parks Foundation spotlights KSP’s Arbor Day Green Team event at Montgomery Ward Park in River North, including notes from Landscape Designer Chelsea Miller about the group’s time on site. Thanks to CPF for bringing us back to an important space that has been long part of our former Erie Street studio. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/g8SyTBEm

We were so excited to have Krueck Sexton Partners join us as our first Green Team of the 2026 season in celebration of Arbor Day! 🌿 The Krueck Sexton Partners team has a special connection to Ward Park, where they’ve held lunch breaks, short walks, and commutes for over 25 years. They gave back by mulching EVERY tree in the park on April 30th! KSP also has a special connection to the Chicago Parks Foundation – Manisha Kaul, Director of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, is a member of the CPF Board and lends a wonderful perspective to our team. Thank you KSP for the outstanding support. Read KSP’s full story on our blog and schedule your own Green Teams cleanup with us this June–October using the link below: https://lnkd.in/gZjQGFv3

  • Last week, KSP joined the University of Illinois Chicago for Creating a Resilient Climate Future for UIC Museums, a town hall conversation held at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum Residents Dining Hall. This was one of many events that were part of the National Endowment for the Humanities' Climate Smart Humanities Grant, Building Climate Resilient Spaces for the Humanities: UIC’s Jane Addams Hull-House Museum & Gallery 400 as Sites of Heritage Justice. Together, with dbHMS, UIC Department of Art History, panelists Gabriel Wilcox, Yugene Cha, AIA, Sachin Anand, and Omur Harmansah, the conversation far exceed the bounds of climate resilience and heritage justice ahead of next week’s culminating event—the Integrated Design Workshop.

  • This Earth Month, our studio participated in two site visits focused on urban ecology and building performance. First, a visit to the Wild Mile at the Kingsbury entrance, a floating park developed by Urban Rivers that restores native habitat while opening public access along the Chicago River. Second, a tour of the Keller Center at the University of Chicago led by KSP Director of Sustainability, Gabriel Wilcox, which examined the building’s energy systems and envelope in use.

  • Our team joined the Chicago Parks Foundation at Montgomery Ward Park for an Arbor Day volunteer event—just steps from our former Erie Street studio in River North! We spent the morning mulching trees to help protect root systems, retain moisture, and support the long-term health of a corner of the neighborhood that was part of our daily surroundings for more than 25 years. Thank you to the Chicago Parks Foundation for organizing the event and for their ongoing stewardship of Chicago’s parks and green spaces.

Crown Fountain Based on the original physical model, I used AI to test different materials, lighting, and perspectives—an experimental study of materials and light. Beyond traditional physical models, we are now in an era where AI allows us to visualize and evolve materials, lighting, and spatial depth in real-time, perfectly aligned with our design intent. It's truly amazing to witness how rapidly evolving technology is transforming architectural design and our daily workflow. As summer approaches Chicago, I hope you have a refreshing start to the season with Crown Fountain—a signature project of Krueck Sexton Partners and a true Chicago landmark.

  • This month, Krueck Sexton Partners welcomed more than 250 guests to its new West Loop studio to mark the firm’s forty-sixth year of practice and a transition into its fourth office. The evening brought together colleagues, collaborators, clients, and friends from across Chicago’s AEC community in a space that reflects the firm’s ongoing evolution, from Ron Krueck and Mark P. Sexton's early garden studio on the city’s North Side to decades in River North. Throughout the evening, the studio filled with those conversations and relationships that have carried the practice across time. Reflecting on the move, Partner Tom Jacobs spoke about the importance of approaching the practice with humility and collective purpose, describing the office as a place where “each time we cross the threshold, we are asked to check our egos at the door.”

  • KSP CFO Mike Matthews, CPA and Co-Managing Partner Don Semple, AIA joined the Chicago CFO Leadership Council for a discussion on the CEO-CFO partnership and how it operates in practice. As Mike noted, “One of the key takeaways for me was the importance of shared values and how they establish a baseline of faith. Through diligent work, faith becomes earned trust, which is the core of an effective Managing Partner and CFO relationship.” Thanks to the CFO Leadership Council for organizing the conversation and to the panelists for a direct discussion.
