The Path to Fluidity This video shows my daughter testing a "works-like" prototype—the result of observing how human motion is deeply personal and independent of the task at hand. It illustrates the unconscious: how micro-movements, as well as deliberate shifts—free movement—are essential to our sense of well-being. Even at that stage, the progress was clear. When she sat still, the chair was still and stable. When she needed to move, the motion was responsive, smooth, and effortless—no resistance. I wasn’t at the finish line then, but you can see the vision come to life this June as Cognetic Technology, in partnership with KI. Attend the opening of the KI Inspiration Center Preview at Design Days to be one of the first to see Cognetic Technology. After an incredible run with KI of nearly 30 years, I’ll be retiring at the end of June. It’s been a privilege to work alongside so many talented people and help shape our Healthcare market strategies. The impact we’ve made—and the relationships built—are what I’ll value most. As I step away, we’re looking for the next leader to take this role forward. If you (or someone in your network) is a strategic, growth-minded leader who enjoys connecting market insight to real business impact, I’d love for you to take a look. KI requires a workplace strategy expert to align all our sales and marketing efforts with the goal of supporting the growth of the healthcare market. Appreciate all the support over the years—and excited to see what’s next for KI. Reach out to me directly with any questions!

Years ago, after a severe car accident, sitting for long periods became nearly impossible for me. As an industrial designer, it forced me to think something we rarely question: Why are chairs designed to keep us still when the human body was built to move? What followed was years of observation, experimentation, and prototype after prototype. Some of the most important inspirations came from simply watching my daughter move naturally while working. I saw subtle shifts and constant motion; she was never fully static. That realization became the foundation for what is now Cognetic Technology. This launch is deeply personal to me, and I’m grateful to everyone who is helping bring it to life. You’ve seen the elephants that paint… Or orangutans or kangaroos or … penguins? (National geographic shared it, so we can be pretty sure it’s not AI: https://lnkd.in/g_nQ3j3d) But have you seen a chair that paints?? Not literally, and that’s not at all the point of this up-and-coming seating technology from KI. But when you see how fluid and dynamic the motion is when reflected on a computerized motion swirl, it’s obvious that this chair with Cognetic Technology™ is something wholly different than anything the market has seen. As I spun and swayed and swerved in the chair, my “design” came to life in this … um … shape. Not the prettiest, especially compared to others who created their designs by beta testing our Cognetograph maker (AKA “Art of Flow” — coming to Design Days!) this week, but it’s definitely unique. And that’s precisely the point. Unique motion that’s reflected in how I shift and move and “flow” with the chair. Not forcing a motion for how the chair works, but adapting to how I naturally amble and fidget around while seated. Cognetic Technology is something special. I’m so excited for its debut on Kiaura seating at Design Days and look forward to seeing many of you there! 👋🏼 Be sure to get your own Cognetograph design like this at our new Inspiration Center at Fulton Market! I’m eager to see all of the uniquely beautiful designs you’ll create. (HOT TIP: If you come the Sunday before Design Days starts, you’ll beat the crowds and get even more time to sit in Kiaura…win win! RSVP here 👉🏼 www.ki.com/vip) And if this post sounds like a random ramble, it’s because I stubbornly refused to write it without AI. Feels good to remember what my own voice sounds like once in a while … rambles and all. 😌✌🏼 #KIDesignDays #DesignDays #CogneticTechnology #StopSittingStill

What happens when research, design, and movement come together? 💭 💡 With curiosity centered on those ideas, we recently hosted an exclusive event in Chicago focused on the future of work and human performance. This event marked two exciting launches. We celebrated the debut of Amanda Schneider, LEED AP, MBA’s new book, Work for What’s Next, with powerful insights on innovation, leadership, and the evolving ways we work. Guests also experienced a preview of Cognetic Technology™, our patented seating innovation invented by Aaron DeJule that introduces a new way to sit through continuous, natural movement. Amanda’s thought leadership, alongside our Cognetic Technology, sparked meaningful conversations about how design, environment, and movement can shape the future of human performance. Many thanks to Amanda, our guests, and the design community for joining us! And the movement is just beginning. Want in? Join us on Sunday, June 7—right before Design Days kicks off—at our new Inspiration Center at 1045 W. Fulton Street to experience Cognetic Technology and receive a complimentary copy of Amanda’s new book. You’ll walk away with a fresh, research-driven perspective on how workplace culture must evolve to build authentic connections across generations, geographies, and digital environments. You’ll also beat the lines during Design Days and get more time to “find your flow” in our seating built with Cognetic Technology. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity. Space is limited! Shout out to the YWCA Greater Green Bay for an amazing Women of Vision Luncheon. Women. Worth. Wellbeing. Two things said by Ingrid Parker-Hill: 🧡 Knowing your worth doesn't mean doubt goes away, but it means not giving doubt the final say 🧡 As women, wellbeing tends to be the first thing we trade in and the last thing we regain. Having lived these before I heard the words, I feel inspired to do more to strengthen myself for all the women we have the opportunity to lift with us. Thank you KI, Amy Perrault, M.S. and Molly Layden for investing in the community and making opportunities like this accessible for our team!
