Transforming Communities Through Integrated Design & Construction Excellence

About us

Established in St. Louis in 1980, KAI Enterprises has grown into one of the leading and most respected design and build firms. We provide delivery-oriented building solutions nationwide with a diverse portfolio of experience, 150+ in-house multi-discipline professionals, and expertise in both design and construction delivery. More importantly, we are designers and builders out to make a difference in our communities. Through our integrated design and build strategy, we offer both award-winning design services (architecture, interior design and engineering) and build services (general contracting and program, project and construction management) all under one roof. Our goal is to incorporate these two strengths to deliver the best value, solution and people to achieve your vision, budget and schedule. Currently serving as the Executive Architect for the National Juneteenth Museum, KAI seeks out culturally conscious, and politically sensitive projects that will make lasting differences in the lives they touch. KAI was built upon a foundation of teamwork and collaboration and has since grown into one of the largest minority-owned firms in the AEC industry. For more than 45 years, we have been instrumental in transforming communities through its expertise in residential, commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, aviation, mobility, sports and entertainment, government, water and community-focused projects. https://linktr.ee/kaienterprises

  • We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member of KAI 360 CS, Chris Horvath! 👏 Chris recently joined our construction services team as a senior project manager, bringing deep expertise in water infrastructure and utility systems. He is already leading several projects, applying disciplined planning and execution to deliver the critical infrastructure our communities rely on every day. “Chris brings a tremendous depth of experience in infrastructure and utility-focused project management that will strengthen our ability to serve clients across the country,” said Project Executive Bruce Wood, PE. “His background managing large-scale, technically complex projects, combined with his expertise in water and wastewater systems, capital planning and operational leadership, makes him a strong addition to our growing team.” Read more about Chris at the link below! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gYc69fZf #TransformingCommunities #AEC #Construction #NewHire

  • We’re proud to celebrate the grand opening of The Covering House’s new residential campus, a project that represents hope, healing, and a brighter future for vulnerable youth in our community. Designed and built by KAI, this transformational space was created to serve girls who have experienced trafficking and exploitation, offering them safety, dignity, and a place to begin again. This milestone marks the realization of a vision years in the making, rooted in compassion, partnership, and a shared commitment to restoring lives. The new home expands The Covering House’s ability to provide critical residential care, therapeutic services, and long-term support in a safe, nurturing environment. We’re honored to have played a role in bringing this important mission to life alongside The Covering House team and their incredible network of supporters. • 🎉 Exciting news for KAI 360 CS! We’re honored to be named the inaugural 2026 PM/CM Firm of the Year by the CMAA North Texas Chapter - an achievement that reflects the dedication of our team and the strength of our partnerships. A special thank you and congratulations to our incredible client and partner, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), who were also recognized as the CMAA North Texas Owner of the Year! Without DFW's trust and collaboration in our team to assist them in the management of several transformative projects within their $12B Capital Improvement Plan, we wouldn't have been considered for this honor. We are proud to announce our recent architectural work on the renovation of the historic Reverchon Park Ballfield has received a Preservation Achievement Award from Preservation Dallas! Originally established in 1920, the ballfields slowly upgraded over the next ten years with unique characteristics including the wooden bleacher grandstand and field lighting to offer nighttime play. In 1931, the Dallas Bank Amateur Baseball Association was established as the first league at Reverchon and for the next 75 years hosted many other significant leagues including the Women's Baseball League, American Legion teams, the Federal League, Dallas Mexican American Baseball League and the Dallas Men's Senior Baseball League. In 2023, work began to renovate the park to its 1920's glory. This $5.5 million investment included historically-accurate updates to the grandstand, a regraded and irrigated field with new natural grass turf and upgraded bullpens. The tradition of baseball continues on thanks to our preservation of this park, as it is now the home field for North Dallas High School's baseball team. We're proud to help champion the Dallas baseball community with our work on this unique and incredible project! #TransformingCommunities #NorthTexas #Design #GiveBack #AmericasPasttime #Baseball #DallasBaseball #Dallas

  • We recently had an incredible time at the Marvin E. Robinson School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center for their 2026 Careers in Real Estate Seminar. After our last visit, the junior real estate students specifically requested to learn more about Architecture and Interior Design, and our KAI team was thrilled to return for an interactive workshop: Architect for the Day. With a strict 45 minute deadline, teams worked together to design a Neighborhood Clinic, an Elementary School, and a Neighborhood Library. They listened to client needs, planned building spaces using program blocks, considered how their buildings responded to the neighborhood, and presented their final concepts to the group. Giving back to the community through initiatives like this remains a core priority for KAI. The architecture and interior design industry still has a long way to go in terms of representation. By introducing these bright students to the design process early on, we hope to inspire the next generation of diverse professionals who will shape our built environment. The creativity and problem solving skills these students showed were truly impressive! Thank you to Dallas Independent School District, the Marvin E. Robinson School of Business, and Marcus D. Nickerson for inviting us to be part of this impactful event. #TransformingCommunities #DallasISD #Architecture #InteriorDesign #NextGen #AEC

  • The KAI Build team is proud to announce the completion of this small but mighty renovation project at the Mount Grace Convent for the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration. More commonly known as the Pink Sisters, a nod to their rose-colored habits, this community of religious Sisters has been serving the St. Louis community for almost 100 years. We were happy to help when the Sisters called on us to assist with an elevator addition to their office and rectory space. Here's to continuing traditions and commitments to community service for another 100 years! #TransformingCommunities #STL #Construction #GiveBack

  • The ARC at McCowan Park is now open in DeSoto, TX, and the community response has been everything we hoped for. Our KAI team had the opportunity to join the City of DeSoto for a special Grand Opening Weekend, which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a walkthrough of the new facility, local food trucks, and family activities, all in celebration of a transformative building delivered for a community that has long deserved it. The two-story Aquatic and Recreation Center houses an 8-lane competition pool with second-level observation decks, a leisure pool, a full-court gymnasium, an indoor fitness track, dedicated strength and cardio zones, a cycling studio, dance and group exercise rooms, teen rooms, and modern meeting and social spaces. The ARC anchors the larger Curtistene S. McCowan Park master plan, which will continue to grow alongside the city. Mayor Rachel L. Proctor captured the spirit of the project when she said it will "bring together all generations of our community into one thriving location," and the DeSoto Tribune described the opening as "the completion of one of the city's most significant recreational investments." Seeing the community fill the space is what makes this work meaningful for our team. The ARC reflects KAI's outcome-based approach to architecture and our commitment to transforming communities through design that continues to serve residents long after construction is complete. We extend our sincere thanks to the City of DeSoto and our partners, SmithGroup and Manhattan Construction Company, for the trust, collaboration, and shared vision that made the ARC at McCowan Park possible. Congratulations, DeSoto!✨ #TransformingCommunities #GrandOpening #CityofDeSoto #DeSotoARC #CommunityImpact #NorthTexas #AEC #Design #SoMuchToLove
