Developed in partnership with Lee Health, Landmark Healthcare Facilities LLC, and a dedicated project team, this 60,000-square-foot, two-story medical center brings together advanced surgical and family-focused care in a welcoming environment. Thoughtful planning supports efficient, high-quality care today, while resilient, adaptable design positions the facility to grow with the community’s evolving healthcare needs for years to come. We’re grateful to be part of a project made possible through philanthropy and collaboration, and we look forward to its lasting impact. With deep respect and gratitude, we remember David Kahler, FAIA, a visionary architect, devoted mentor, and dedicated leader whose influence continues to shape Kahler Slater and the design profession. From his first days with our firm in 1965, he championed architecture as an act of service, believing that thoughtful design has the power to elevate communities, foster connection, and enrich lives. From 1974 to 2002, he led the firm with Mac Slater and helped shape Kahler Slater into a nationally respected practice while contributing to some of the region’s most enduring civic and cultural architecture. His commitment to design excellence was matched by a strong commitment to integrity, curiosity, and collaboration. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate a legacy that lives on in the firm he helped build, the places he helped shape, and the people he inspired. His principles remain embedded in our culture and our work, guiding us forward. We are profoundly grateful for David’s life, leadership, and vision. He will be missed dearly and remembered always. Suite 1450 at 303 E. Wacker reimagines the workplace through a lens of serene minimalism. The suite blends a light, neutral palette with Japanese oak–inspired tones to create a calm, highly adaptable environment designed to draw people in and support a range of workstyles. A custom curved Shoji screen sets the tone at arrival, guiding visitors along soft, intuitive pathways, while an open café anchors the space as a social hub. Thoughtful planning places enclosed offices internally, allowing natural light to extend deep into the suite and along the perimeter for all to benefit. Congratulations to the Children's Wisconsin – PICU project team on being named a 2026 Milwaukee Business Journal Real Estate Awards honoree.   This recognition highlights a 28,000+ SF expansion and renovation that grew the PICU to 44 beds, introduced a Highly Infectious Patient Suite, and delivered flexible, future‑ready care environments for patients, families, and care teams.
