#ThrowbackThursday to this feature highlighting trauma-informed practices in Massachusetts schools and the importance of creating supportive environments where students feel safe, connected, and ready to learn. Through a DESE-funded initiative, Justice Resource Institute partnered with schools across the state to provide trauma-informed conflict and mental health trainings focused on understanding the needs underlying student behavior and helping educators respond with regulation-focused strategies. At Farley Elementary School, sensory-friendly reset spaces and trauma-informed approaches helped support both students and staff while strengthening classroom dynamics. Advocacy in action. Change in motion. Yesterday was a powerful day at the Rhode Island State House. JRI employees and hundreds of others came together to make their voices heard, meeting with state legislators and holding them accountable to the promises made to the communities we serve.⁠ Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke out, and stood in solidarity. JRI staff joined leaders from across the country in Washington, DC for the Child Welfare League of America Advocacy Day, meeting with the offices of Representatives Richard Neal, Jim McGovern, Ayanna Pressley, Katherine Clark, and Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren to advocate for policies that strengthen and support children and families.
