Independent Petroleum Association of America - IPAA is backing new legislation aimed at easing #methane emissions requirements for marginal #oilandgas wells by shifting more oversight to states. https://lnkd.in/gsQasyeE

IPAA supports the “Protect Domestic Oil and Gas Small Business Act” (https://lnkd.in/g5uyb5yh) – legislation introduced today by Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX-11) that right-sizes the regulatory requirements for small business oil and natural gas wells. The current one-size-fits-all emissions regulations would make many marginal wells unviable, eliminating a significant source of much-needed energy production and harm small businesses and their communities. The “Protect Domestic Oil and Gas Small Business Act” preserves the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s broader authority across the industry on emissions regulation while delegating to the states the planning of performance standards of marginal wells. The result is a smarter framework that protects America’s distributed domestic supply and supports our shared environmental goals. IPAA President and CEO Edith Naegele was honored to be in Bismarck this week at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference hosted by the our state allies the North Dakota Petroleum Council. On stage with NDPC's Ron Ness and state leaders from energy powerhouses New Mexico and Texas, Edith presented the federal perspective and shared IPAA's efforts in representing independent producers with one voice in Washington.
