    In medicine, there’s a principle: “when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.” But for patients with ATTR-CM and other rare diseases, being the “zebra” can mean years of uncertainty, misdiagnosis and navigating systems not designed to recognise them. In conversations with Amyloidosis UK, one thing came through clearly: without accessible information, clear pathways and specialist support closer to home, many patients are left trying to navigate the system themselves.
