  • HR Green is part of the selected team supporting the South Dakota Department of Transportation as it advances a comprehensive Railroad Corridor Analysis and Crossing Safety Study in the Sioux Falls region. Supported by a $1 million Federal Railroad Administration grant, the study will evaluate 130 at-grade rail crossings across Lincoln and Minnehaha Counties to identify safety risks, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement. As the region continues to grow, this data-driven effort will help SDDOT and local partners prioritize improvements that reduce collision risk, improve emergency response reliability, and support safer, more efficient mobility for drivers, pedestrians, rail operators, and surrounding communities. The final study and Implementation Priorities Plan will provide a clear path forward for rail crossing improvements that support public safety, quality of life, and long-term regional growth. • HR Green welcomed high school students and their career advisor from Careers in Construction Colorado to our Colorado Springs office for a hands-on STEM and construction career experience. Students learned about career pathways in civil engineering and construction, participated in a site planning activity, and visited the Quail Lake Motor Club development to see how design concepts move from paper to an active project site. Thank you to Careers in Construction Colorado, Niebur Development, and Thomas General Contractors for helping create a meaningful learning opportunity for local students. HR Green is proud to support programs that connect the classroom to real-world project delivery and help inspire the next generation of planners, engineers, construction professionals, and skilled trades leaders. • Across Illinois, infrastructure tells the story of how communities evolve. HR Green helps shape that story by collaborating with cities and counties to deliver practical, lasting improvements. Our teams design flood mitigation projects, enhance water and wastewater systems, and plan multimodal transportation solutions that connect people to opportunity. We combine technical precision with a human focus, ensuring that each design serves both current and future generations. Illinois reminds us that engineering is about more than construction. It is about creating places where people can live, work, and thrive with confidence. Our goal is to leave every community stronger than we found it, one project, one partnership, one plan at a time. #InfrastructureDesign #IllinoisInfrastructure #WaterResources #TransportationPlanning #CivilEngineering #CommunityGrowth https://ow.ly/wvn350YWeP8

  • Technology is changing the way communities plan, design, build, and maintain the infrastructure people rely on every day. This National Technology Day, HR Green recognizes the role civil engineering technology plays in helping communities make smarter, more informed decisions. From GIS and digital planning tools to broadband planning, utility modeling, smart infrastructure, construction technology, and data-driven asset management, technology continues to shape how projects move forward. Across our services, HR Green helps communities use practical technology to support: • Broadband and connectivity planning • Water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure • Transportation and mobility improvements • Land development and site design • Construction services and infrastructure delivery For cities, counties, utilities, and private clients, technology is not just about innovation. It is about improving coordination, strengthening infrastructure, and helping communities prepare for what comes next. #NationalTechnologyDay #CivilEngineering #BroadbandPlanning #SmartInfrastructure #InfrastructureTechnology #CommunityDevelopment #HRGreen

  • Did you know...municipal lift stations play a critical role in wastewater collection systems, but aging equipment, outdated controls, capacity changes, odor concerns, and maintenance challenges can quickly turn them into operational weak points. Lift station rehabilitation helps communities improve system performance, extend infrastructure life, and prepare for future growth. A strong rehabilitation strategy often starts with understanding: • The current condition of structural, mechanical, electrical, and control systems • Whether rehabilitation or replacement is the better long-term investment • How modern controls, SCADA integration, backup power, and redundancy can improve reliability • How site access, safety, odor control, and future capacity needs affect project success For municipalities, these decisions are not just technical. They affect budgets, public service, maintenance teams, and long-term community resilience. Check out our Complete Guide to Municipal Lift Station Rehabilitation to learn how communities can turn aging lift stations into more reliable infrastructure assets. #WastewaterInfrastructure #LiftStations #MunicipalEngineering #WaterInfrastructure #InfrastructureRehabilitation #HRGreen https://ow.ly/tS8C50YWEtE

  • Restoring balance where it matters most. The Woods Creek watershed has experienced decades of change, from agriculture to suburban development, leaving sections of the stream unstable, eroded, and disconnected from their natural floodplain. In one of the most degraded reaches, our team partnered with the Village of Algonquin and Baxter & Woodman Natural Resources to bring the system back to life. Through the restoration of nearly 1,000 linear feet of stream and 22 acres of surrounding habitat, we reintroduced natural meanders, stabilized streambanks, and reconnected the creek to its floodplain. Using data-driven design and hydraulic modeling, the solution not only improves water quality and reduces erosion, but it also enhances habitat and builds long-term resilience across the watershed. #HRGreen #Watershed #Floodplain #Restoration

  • HR Green is proud to support the South Dakota Department of Transportation as it advances replacement of the Platte–Winner Bridge along SD Highway 44, a critical Missouri River crossing that has served travelers since 1966. The project recently received $65 million in federal funding through the Federal Highway Administration’s Competitive Highway Bridge Program, helping move forward one of South Dakota’s largest and most technically complex transportation projects. HR Green supported SDDOT throughout the grant development process and is leading the project team in evaluating solutions that balance geotechnical feasibility, environmental stewardship, regulatory coordination, and long-term performance. Once complete, the new bridge will provide a safer, more durable connection for residents, businesses, emergency services, and regional travelers across the Missouri River.
