There are nurses patients never forget, and for one family, Cardiovascular IMC nurse Savanah Fry is one of them. From the moment a patient arrived at Holy Cross Health, Savanah brought comfort and reassurance during an uncertain time. Her attentiveness, clinical judgment, and quick action when the patient’s condition began to decline helped ensure he received the critical care he needed. Long after the patient left the unit, Savanah continued checking in and offering support to the family. In their nomination, the family shared, “Through this experience, we not only gained an extraordinary nurse, we gained a dear friend.” Thank you, Savanah, for the compassion, presence, and care you bring to patients and families at Holy Cross Health every day. Stress has a way of showing up quietly. Sometimes it looks like difficulty focusing, feeling mentally tired, trouble sleeping, or carrying tension throughout the day. Dr. Tasia Bradley from Holy Cross Medical Group – Wilton Manors recently joined AvMed at The W Fort Lauderdale for a conversation around stress management and practical ways people can better support their mental and physical well-being day to day. The session included mindfulness exercises and box breathing techniques that can help people reset, slow down, and feel more present throughout the day. Yesterday's Hospital Week luncheon gave our day and night shift colleagues a chance to slow down, share a good meal, and spend time together outside of the usual routine. From the Mercy courtyard to familiar faces from across departments, the day was all about celebrating the people who keep our hospital going every single day. The one who helped bring calm to a stressful moment. The one who treated a patient like family during one of the most vulnerable times in their life. Living with a nerve or muscle condition can be frustrating, especially when answers are hard to find. Holy Cross Medical Group welcomes Dr. Sara Huser, DO, neurology, to the Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute. As a fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in neuromuscular medicine, she cares for patients with ALS, neuropathy, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis and other complex nerve and muscle conditions — helping patients get answers, treatment and support closer to home. With a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her neurology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and fellowship training in neuromuscular medicine at the University of Minnesota, bringing a strong foundation to neuromuscular care. Today our campuses looked a little different, in the best way. For Take Your Child to Work Day, our colleagues brought their kids into Holy Cross Health to see where mom or dad spends the day. They asked questions, explored the campus, and got a firsthand look at the care and teamwork behind everything we do. Thank you to the colleagues who made the day feel welcoming and fun and a special thank you to Oakland Park Fire Rescue for bringing the fire truck everyone was waiting for. 🚒 Moments like these are a good reminder of why this work matters and who's watching us do it.
