At Tom Bradley International Terminal, the design of the ticketing islands draws from a familiar part of LAX’s architectural history. Their paneled breezeblock-inspired screens reference the decorative concrete block wall at the base of the iconic Theme Building, designed in 1961 as part of a major expansion of the airport.   In early sketches, the design team explored how that language could be reinterpreted within the terminal, giving the islands depth, texture and a stronger sense of identity. In the final design, that idea carries through as a contemporary architectural element that helps define the ticketing hall while connecting it back to the airport’s broader design legacy. https://lnkd.in/gGDcxnSW Los Angeles World Airports

The KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension opened today, expanding connections between downtown and the Berkley Riverfront and strengthening Kansas City’s multimodal transportation network just weeks before the city welcomes visitors from around the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Working in close collaboration with the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, the City of Kansas City, MO and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, HNTB delivered engineering and design services that help integrate the extension seamlessly into the existing system — advancing a more connected, accessible transit network across the region.

The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project has officially broken ground—marking a major step toward modernizing one of the nation’s most important transportation links. Working alongside Ohio Department of Transportation and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, HNTB has provided technical and financial advisory services, advanced funding strategies and helped guide critical delivery decisions. As construction begins, our team remains engaged through program management, pre-construction services and oversight, ensuring completion of this transformational investment.

The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project is one of the nation’s most significant transportation transformations. Spanning eight miles of I-71 and I-75, this initiative will reshape how Ohio and Kentucky move, connect, and grow. Today, we broke ground on this historic bi-state endeavor🌉 And it’s not just about moving traffic, its about improving communities. This project will include: - Construction of a new double-decker companion bridge to carry interstate and transport traffic - Improvements to existing Brent Spence Bridge to carry local traffic to and from downtown Cincinnati and Covington - Improvements to the eight miles of roadway in Ohio and Kentucky including redesign of ramp configurations - New pedestrian and bike paths to connect communities and improve access to transit stops, jobs, and more - Aesthetic improvements to create a walkable, urban sense of place Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g55YFMwK

Designing airports isn’t just about moving passengers efficiently. It’s an opportunity to create a strong sense of place. For Tampa International Airport (TPA) Airside D, our design team looked closely at the character of the Tampa Bay region — its coastline, springs and layered landscapes — and translated those ideas into the #architecture of the terminal. Early sketches explored how the building could work as a kind of microcosm of the region. The roof, skin and base draw inspiration from local water systems and landforms, while a central gathering space filled with daylight and greenery creates a calm, legible heart for the terminal. That same thinking shaped the building’s signature roof. Its rolling geometry and clerestory ribbon bring daylight deep into the concourse and naturally guide passengers through the space. The design team sought to craft a terminal that works at the scale of a major international gateway while remaining intuitive, memorable and distinctly rooted in Tampa Bay.
