Our beautiful #WahiPana #TheBus Route 1L carrying a bicycle for #BikeMonth on a beautiful sunny day Fun fact: we left the front of our Wahi Pana TheBus with its original wrapping, so that riders would not be confused as it approaches stops. We wanted to ensure riders that the Wahi Pana bus was still one of our own in the fleet. Love seeing riders go multimodal! #HOLOWithUs

Today we’re celebrating #WorldPublicTransportDay! Here in Honolulu, public transportation helps keep our island connected. Bringing people to work, getting keiki to school, making it to appointments, and helping families stay close to what matters most. From #TheBus and #HNLSkyline to #HandiVan and #Biki, each part of our system plays an important role in keeping our community moving. Whether it’s a daily commute, a ride home, or a quick trip across town, public transit helps connect our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and provide reliable options for everyone across Oʻahu. As we celebrate World Public Transport Day, we recognize the systems that keep our cities moving and communities connected, worldwide. Public transit is more than mobility. It drives economic growth, supports healthier and safer societies, and plays a critical role in building a sustainable future. As the backbone of inclusive and resilient cities, it deserves strong, long-term support and investment. Come #HOLOWithUs.

Today is National Transit Employee Appreciation Day! While we all appreciate our #TheBus and #HandiVan drivers, Skyline train and station operators, mechanics, and behind-the-scenes staff, today is a special reminder to thank them for the work they do every day to keep our community moving. Operators become a part of your daily routine. You may recognize familiar faces, and you may become a familiar face to them. You will meet new ones, and revisit previous ones. Sometimes you'll wonder where they went; if they got a different route or different shift. Sometimes, they become a close friend. If you’re riding today, take a moment to say mahalo. Give a shaka, a smile, or a simple thank you. It means more than you think. We’re grateful for all that they do. Come #HOLOWithUs

With the recent opening of #HNLSkyline Segment 2, we are now preparing for the next phase of #TheBus service improvements associated with Skyline Segment 3, from Kalihi to the Civic Center in Kakaʻako. To help shape future TheBus service and better integrate it with upcoming Skyline extensions, we're launching a series of public workshops to gather community input! Last year, DTS conducted a six-month planning and public input process in preparation for the opening of Skyline Segment 2 to the Kahauiki Kalihi Transit Center Station. Based on community feedback and operational analysis, DTS introduced the new U Line, W Line and made substantial enhancements to the former Route A, now the A Line! If you'd like to see improvements to your bus service, come stop by! There are two public workshops planned: Kapolei Workshop Tuesday, March 24, 2026 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Kapolei Satellite City Hall Conference Rooms A and B 1000 Uluʻōhiʻa Street, Kapolei, HI 96707 Honolulu Workshop Saturday, March 28, 2026 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Blaisdell Center, Pīkake Room 777 Ward Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96814 Both workshops will allow attendees to “design their own bus network” for the opening of Skyline Segment 3 to the Civic Center. Participants will be provided with maps of the Honolulu area showing new Skyline stations and will be able to share their preferred bus routing concepts. Attendees may also rank and rate priorities for related bus and transit infrastructure improvements. Participants are welcome to work individually or in teams. DTS will collect and review all submissions and use them as critical inputs in designing the future bus network. In addition, the Kapolei workshop will provide community members an opportunity to share their perspectives on which West Oʻahu activity centers and corridors should be prioritized for future transit improvements beyond the opening of Skyline Segment 3. Please arrive on time to receive instructions and fully participate in the activities. #HOLOWithUs

Our #HNLSkyline Segment 2 video took home an AdWheel Award for Best Electronic Media to Increase Ridership, presented by the American Public Transportation Association! "Skyline Rail Segment 2 Opening: Air, Land and Sea" (also titled Welcome to Skyline Segment 2) was recognized at the APTA Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience Workshop (MCX) in Savannah, Georgia. Big congratulations to our Information Specialist Travis Ota and Transportation Planner Puni Chee for accepting the award and representing Skyline on a stage! Also, we're Honolulu DTS, not DOT, but that's okay Now go watch the video again here! https://lnkd.in/gEzb5VP3 #HOLOWithUs
