A 41-story residential high-rise in Salt Lake City designed to do something buildings rarely attempt: improve the air outside, not just the air within. Salt Lake City ranks among the worst cities in the U.S. for air quality. Astra Tower responds directly to that reality. The building filters outdoor air to hospital-grade standards before it reaches residents and uses its crown lighting to communicate real-time air quality conditions to the broader community. Congratulations are in order! Our own Krisianna Bock, MPH, FACHE, EDAC, Principal and Senior Vice President, Advisory, received the Ira Alpert Service Award from the UCLA HPMAA (Health Policy & Management Alumni Association) last night. HPMAA is an association with a history of nearly 40 years and more than 1,000 members. The Ira Alpert Service Award honors an alum who demonstrates a deep commitment to the alumni community, leadership in the healthcare field and mentorship to support the next generation of healthcare leaders. Step inside the revamped player-centric facilities for University of Georgia baseball. From the new state-of-the-art pitching lab to the redesigned weight room, nutrition space and player lounge, every detail was designed with the Dawgs in mind. The home team locker room and meeting spaces redesign created new finishes, lockers and seating. The play of red and crisp white lighting, elements of contrast and volume of space create drama and bring layers of energy for the athletes. These thoughtfully curated spaces encourage focus, connection and individual drive, setting the stage for greatness on and off the field. Our innovative design for A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs - A*STAR IDL in Singapore has won the Lab Design’s 2026 Design Excellence Award for Excellence in Interior Design! This state-of-the-art Bio-Safety Level 2 facility is a pioneering space for advancing infectious disease research, vaccine development and pandemic preparedness. This project features: ➡️ Enhanced lab-office zoning and distinct color-coded wayfinding for improved workflow and navigation. ➡️ Specialized areas for virus, bacteria and fungi research, as well as new fish, insect and animal procedure labs. ➡️ Thoughtful updates like natural light, acoustic-conscious designs and displays of A*STAR’s mission foster a welcoming, collaborative environment. A place of pioneering research and world-class patient care. UW Health Eastpark Medical Center is forging a new path in infusion and proton therapy to treat cancer. HKS sought to address the unique sensory and emotional needs of oncology patients, while also creating space for cutting-edge research and clinical trials. The center is the first in Wisconsin to offer multiple treatment rooms for proton therapy, which is an advanced cancer treatment that allows for more precise tumor targeting. HKS designed this center to house the Leo Cancer Care upright proton therapy vault, which is a radiation treatment system that allows the patient to remain in a standing or seated position. This innovative upright proton therapy treatment increases patient comfort while also creating a smaller physical footprint for medical equipment. A highway divided a neighborhood. A new park brings it back together. Halperin Park opens tomorrow. Built over I-35E in Dallas' historic Oak Cliff neighborhood, the park reclaims land lost to highway construction in the 1950s and returns it to the community as a civic gathering space. Designed by HKS and SWA, the park features a great lawn, bandshell, pavilion, playground and more. Shaped by input from more than 500 residents, local businesses, and nonprofits, the park opens this weekend as both a neighborhood commons that tackles social and environmental justice and a regional destination for Dallas. This year’s theme, Avant-Camp, inspired designers to reflect on our world and transform overlooked materials into provocative statements that spark dialogue about innovation, our shared future and the footprint we leave behind. The showcase will be displayed at malls across America, inspiring others and demonstrating how design can help overcome worldwide environmental and social challenges.
