We seek to build self-sufficiency for qualified families through the life-changing opportunity of homeownership.

About us

We Put Faith Into Action Our mission is seeking to put God’s love into action; Habitat brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, OH is a faith-based organization that envisions Miami and Shelby Counties as a place where every resident has access to quality and affordable homeownership opportunities. We seek to build self-sufficiency for residents in need through the life-changing opportunity of homeownership. We want to see vibrant neighborhoods where engaged homeowners participate in building safe and healthy communities. Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, OH defines “need” as someone earning 30-50% of the average median income (AMI) for the Miami and Shelby County area. That equates to roughly a $18,050 annual income for a family of four at 30% AMI. Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, OH relies on Individuals, Churches, Corporations, and Foundations to provide the financial and in-kind resources necessary to construct or rehabilitate the homes. Annually, HFHMSCO also relies on hundreds of volunteers that provide the labor to construct and rehab the homes. All this allows HFHMSCO to provide monthly mortgage rates around $300 – $500.

  • Thank you for your partnership Clopay Corporation! Together we're building community!

  • Today we are grateful to Matt Homan of Dicke's Lawn Service, along with the dedicated teachers and talented students of Upper Valley Career Center Landscaping and Natural Resources class, for their work laying sod and completing the landscaping at the two Habitat homes dedicated this past December. Not only did your efforts help transform these houses into truly beautiful homes, but they also provided a valuable hands-on learning opportunity for students to apply their skills in a real-world setting and make a meaningful difference in our community. Thank you for your hard work, generosity, and commitment to both education and service!

  • We’re incredibly grateful to Ferguson Construction for their outstanding work on the block foundation of our Sidney build! Strong foundations make strong homes, and thanks to their expertise and dedication, we’re one step closer to providing a safe, stable place for a local family. Partnerships like this are what make our mission possible. Thank you for helping us build hope from the ground up! #HabitatForHumanity #CommunityPartners #BuildingHope

  • On Wednesday morning our Habitat Activity Center (HAC) volunteers delivered a picnic table and three park benches sponsored by Piqua CARSTAR to Garbry Big Woods in Piqua. On hand to welcome sponsors Tom Martin, Travis Martin, and Cameron Eisenhardt were Miami County Park District Director Scott Myers and Operations Director Dan Weaver. Our sponsorship program is a funding initiative launched in 2024 by Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties. Each package is sponsored for $2,500 or more and, once completed, is donated to a local youth-serving organization. Proceeds from sponsorships directly support Habitat’s Home Repairs Program, which focuses on critical repairs and accessibility improvements for qualified homeowners. Potential sponsors can choose a park bench package or picnic table package in addition to Project Playhouse. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like Piqua Carstar , Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties has been able to complete 43 critical home repairs since January 2024. We wish everyone who visits Garbry Big Woods comfort and relaxation in the park! Thank you Piqua Carstar! • Please join us to celebrate the impact of Match Day this year! All are welcome to attend TODAY, Wednesday, March 25 at 4:00 PM at the Historic Sidney Theatre. This free event brings our community together to celebrate the generosity that supports the 30 participating charities. During the celebration, The Community Foundation of Shelby County will announce the final Match Day total and the amount each organization will receive. This year, the funds raised for Habitat for Humanity will be used to support the purchase of a new vehicle for organizational use. This vehicle will enable our team to safely and efficiently transport staff, volunteers, tools, and building materials to project sites. Reliable transportation is essential to maintaining consistent build schedules, expanding our reach within the community, and responding to emerging needs. The use of an organizational vehicle will strengthen the execution of our mission to build homes, communities, and hope.

  • Last week Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties had the privilege of celebrating the groundbreaking of a new home that will be built in Sidney in 2026. The ceremony was held Thursday at 2pm on the site of the future home. Home sponsor Cargill sent Cargill Cares Committee member Amanda Matheny to speak to the partnership with Habitat. "The Cargill Cares Committee of Sidney is proud to sponsor this Habitat for Humanity construction project in memory of the late Mickey Hamer, longtime Cargill employee and Habitat board member. Mickey lived a life defined by giving, serving, and lifting others up. His impact on this community can still be felt in countless ways, and we are deeply honored to help carry that legacy forward today," said Matheny. We are incredibly grateful for Cargill's partnership and support. We were also joined by Sidney First Methodist Church reverend Eileen Hix who gave the blessing, Sidney Mayor Mike Barhorst, and Shelby County Commissioner Mack Knupp, who spoke about how the project will impact the Sidney neighborhood. Habitat Board member and D&S Construction owner Sean Rank will serve as Construction Supervisor. Habitat Partner Families receive a hand up in their homeownership journey by partnering with us to build their home. Each Partner Family is chosen by our Family Selection Committee which consists of our on-staff Qualified Loan Officers and select board members. Partner families are then required to complete between 200 and 400 partnership hours; volunteer service that includes helping to build their own home, working in the Habitat Activity Center or ReStore, and taking financial courses and credit counseling. When the home is complete the family become first-time home buyers with a 0% interest mortgage! HFHMSCO would like to thank all those supporters, volunteers, and staff who attended this celebration and without whom our mission would not be possible. Those interested in becoming a Habitat Homeowner in Miami or Shelby County can apply between now and April 10th for our next build. Please call Megan or Jenna at 937-332-3763 for more information.
