Building the world's fastest aircraft.

About us

Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries. Utilizing an integrated, hardware-rich, iterative development approach to aircraft design and build, Hermeus aims to deliver advanced air power at a pace not seen in the U.S. since the 1950s. Hermeus’ current Quarterhorse Program is actively unlocking unmanned high-speed flight. One program, four aircraft – each purpose-built to unlock a specific technical challenge, advance learnings, and incrementally de-risk critical technology in the pursuit of hypersonic aircraft. America needs fast planes fast – and Hermeus is delivering them.

Big day. Zach Shore is stepping up as CEO while AJ Piplica moves into the Chairman role.

Just shared this note with the team: I’m moving into the Chairman seat, and Zach Shore will succeed me as the company’s next CEO of Hermeus. Zach has been instrumental in our progress, and there is no one better equipped to lead us through the next phase of our mission. I’ve been planning this for a while, and as hard as it is as a founder to pass the reigns, I’m legit stoked for the future this move unlocks. Let’s go

Same frame, different beast.    While Mk 2.1 continues its campaign toward supersonic, our next two aircraft are already underway. This is what rapid iteration looks like in practice.    Though its airframe is similar to Mk 2.1, what’s inside is more powerful. Mk 2.2 will serve as a test bed for higher Mach propulsion, increased range and endurance, and increased reliability. All technologies that will enable high-supersonic flight.    Mk 2.3, currently in its design phase, will demonstrate the high-temperature airframe needed for ramjet transition with the goal of reaching Mach 3+ speeds.    This is how we’re building the world’s fastest aircraft.

Wheels up for Quarterhorse.    During its most recent flight test, Mk 2.1 successfully deployed and retracted its landing gear mid-flight, marking another key milestone as we progress toward higher-speed regimes.     Each flight is designed to validate a specific system and move the aircraft closer to supersonic. This one did exactly that.     We’re not slowing down. Stay tuned.

Quarterhorse Mk 2.1 has received authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration to exceed Mach 1 speeds. Hermeus is the second company ever authorized by the FAA to fly a civil aircraft supersonic, and the first to do so with an unmanned system.  We’re grateful for a strong partnership with the agency and proud to be a part of aviation history.

Today we announced a $350 million Series C financing led by Khosla Ventures, bringing Hermeus to a $1 billion valuation.     Our mission is straightforward: build today’s fastest aircraft for the American Warfighter. The concept is simple but the task is monumental.    We still have so much to learn, but we’ve earned the opportunity to swing big. And swing big we will.    More on our Series C: https://lnkd.in/gyQv-yfv
