HarperCollins Publishers proudly donated copies of the 100th Anniversary Edition of WINNIE-THE-POOH in honor of Her Majesty Queen Camilla’s visit to The New York Public Library, part of the King and Queen’s state visit to the United States marking the 250th anniversary of US independence. Her Majesty’s time at the library reflects her long‑standing commitment to reading and literacy through The Queen’s Reading Room, the charity she launched in 2023 to champion the power and benefits of reading in the UK and beyond—closely aligned with HarperCollins’s own commitment to literacy. During the event, Her Majesty also presented a specially made Roo toy to mark 100 years since the publication of the first WINNIE-THE-POOH book. Students from P.S. 116 Mary Lindley Murray School attended the event and went home with copies of the book. We are honored to mark this moment while supporting The New York Public Library, The Queen’s Reading Room, and local organizations. After nearly 100 years, baby Roo has been reunited with Kanga and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods, thanks to a little help from the last remaining teddy bear manufacturer in England, and the Queen herself 👑🧸 Roo has been lost from Christopher Robin’s original collection of toys since the 1930s, and thanks to the team at Merrythought Ltd, they were able to recreate the original toy before sending Roo off on a royal adventure 🫅 As a fourth‑generation family business, Merrythought’s work not only preserves a cherished piece of literary history, but also highlights the economic value of sustaining traditional British manufacturing skills 📚🦘 Watch below to see Roo’s journey go from Ironbridge Shropshire, to Buckingham Palace, all the way to New York before reuniting with his mom, Kanga, and the rest of the beloved toys that inspired Winnie the Pooh as part of the State Visit from The King and Queen this week 👇 #StateVisit2026 #GreaterTogether HarperCollins Publishers | The New York Public Library

Our New York office was buzzing with extra energy last week as we welcomed 50 young visitors for Take a Child to Work Day. The kids enjoyed a presentation on bookmaking from Andrew Arnold, VP and Publisher of Children’s Books, along with a beautiful performance of the viral hit “Dive” by New York Times bestselling author and composer Julia Riew. Julia also shared an inside look at her upcoming middle‑grade fantasy, SHIM JUNG TAKES THE DIVE. We wrapped up the day with a pizza party and—naturally—book‑filled goodie bags.

This #EarthDay, HarperCollins is proud to continue its support of the Arbor Day Foundation and its mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. Employees recently voted on how a donation be allocated, voting to support the Appalachia Pine Beetle Restoration Project in Tennessee. Funding will also support two additional initiatives: the Loblolly Pine Fungal Restoration Project across the Southeastern U.S. and reforestation efforts in India’s Cauvery River Basin. Together, these projects will help plant more than 40,000 trees. To learn more about Arbor Day (Friday, April 24), the Arbor Day Foundation, and its Million Trees Project, visit: https://www.arborday.org/
