⚡ Cutting Backup Windows in Half on IBM i As data volumes grow, backup windows can quickly become a bottleneck for IT operations. That was the challenge facing Dekko. Increasing demands on their IBM i environment made it harder to complete backups within tight maintenance windows. They modernized their infrastructure by upgrading from a Power9 processor-based system to an IBM Power S1122 with IBM FlashSystem powered by NVMe. The results were immediate and impressive: ✅ Up to 50% faster backup performance ✅ Significantly shorter backup windows ✅ Improved system availability and efficiency ✅ Seamless transition with existing backup processes Across multiple LPARs, save times dropped dramatically which freed up critical system resources and enabled faster and more reliable operations. This is a great example of how modern infrastructure with Power11 can deliver measurable performance gains while setting the stage for future scalability.
