Pushing Boundaries, Paving the Way.... In 1952, Glenn O. Hawbaker and his wife Thelma founded a small excavation company with the goal to build, serve, and advance local communities. Over six decades later, GOH continues to serve customers with an array of services including asphalt paving, road construction, gas well service and construction as well as engineering design services. To date, Glenn O. Hawbaker operates 24 quarries and 8 asphalt production facilities across Pennsylvania, southern New York, and eastern Ohio.

Large custom storm inlets rolling into State College today and set with our new Fassi 660. We had an awesome time celebrating Take Your Kid to Work Day this year! Our team bused employees and their kids out to Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology for a full day of hands-on learning and fun. From exploring grass and gardening, to getting up close with welding, and even climbing into heavy equipment like excavators and dozers—it was a day packed with experiences they won’t forget. And yes… the chocolate chip cookies were just as big of a hit as the equipment. We also toured an active job site where Mike Holtzinger walked us through the work being done and gave everyone a chance to see the equipment we tested earlier actually being used in the field—bringing everything full circle. After our time at CPI and the job site, we wrapped up the day with lunch and a train ride—couldn’t have asked for a better ending. New steel is rising on the west side as the new upper deck and premium seating areas continue to take shape, while the expansion of the east main concourse is also underway. The goal: an enhanced game-day experience for 100,000+ fans and a stadium modernized for the future of Penn State football and other events. Yesterday, Brandon Simpson, EIT , and I had the opportunity to conduct a pre-construction meeting at the Sheetz location in Montandon, Pennsylvania. This site includes three water quality units and four StormTech basins. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is leading the site work and is making strong progress toward bringing this location online in the near future. We had the opportunity to host the Penn State ASCE Student Chapter at our Pleasant Gap Quarry this week — and it was a great time all around. The group got a firsthand look at how our operation runs, from learning about the different material layers and depths within the quarry to seeing how we extract and process what goes into the projects they’ll be designing in the future. The highlight of the day? Watching a live blast — something you just can’t fully appreciate until you feel it in person. Big shoutout to Ben Brumbaugh for leading the tour and doing an excellent job walking the group through the operation. We always enjoy connecting with the next generation of engineers and giving them a real-world look at the industry.
