  • What an privilege it has been to work alongside such an amazing group of people/organizations.

During times of uncertainty, community is what anchors us. I spent today celebrating with and learning from incredible leaders, bridge-builders, and advocates from a cohort of 11 grassroots organizations who are making change happen for families across NC. Their stories highlighted the value of togetherness, the power in centering family voice, and hope for the future (including an unexpected and moving performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”). • When someone is truly called to their work, it shows. Passion fuels consistency, creativity, and care. That's what Head Start teacher Christina Brown brings to GenerationEd each day as she guides our three- and four-year-olds on their journey of discovery. Teaching isn't just what she does, it's who she is, and that kind of purpose-driven dedication has a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the classroom. We’re grateful for Christina's dedication to helping every child learn and grow with confidence! #GenerationEd #HeadStart #earlychildhoodeducation #earlychildhoodeducators #nonprofitcareers

Meet Nyaria. Every morning at 5:30 a.m., she gets her three children up and out the door to catch two buses and a Lyft, just to make it to two different schools by 8:30 a.m. She's rarely late. Until today, not having a car meant tough choices -- like which child's doctor's appointment to keep or where to wait until it was time to pick up her children from school. That changed when Wheels4Hope gifted her a car today. "Having a car is going to make my life a lot easier," she said. "Just being able to get around, put my kids back in activities and even travel a little farther to get to the kind of job I really want -- it's going to make a difference." But this wasn't just a handoff. Nyaria worked hard to prepare financially and make sure she could maintain her new vehicle -- proof that when families have the right support, they rise. At GenerationEd, we believe families already have the drive to succeed, but obstacles like transportation, childcare, or education can stand in the way. Our role is to come alongside them, provide the tools and guidance they need, and help them move from imagining a better life to living it. #GenerationalChange #EmpowermentInAction #WeAreGenerationEd #ThankYouWheels4Hope

  • They came in with uncertainty. They’re leaving with purpose. This week, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 11 incredible team members from GenerationEd’s internal Leadership Academy—a powerful, 8-month journey of growth, discovery, and transformation. These graduates came from various corners of our organization, representing a wide range of roles and responsibilities. Many entered the Academy not seeing themselves as “leaders" -- one employee even saying, "I didn't feel qualified. I'm just a teacher in the classroom." They carried with them the weight of past failures, personal trauma, self-doubt, and resistance to the idea that leadership could look like them. But that’s the beauty of what we built together. This wasn’t just a leadership training—it was a space. A space to unpack and unlearn. A space to grow in confidence and clarity. A space where their voices were heard, their stories were honored, and their potential was nurtured. Throughout the Academy, they didn’t just gain insight into leadership models and professional development—they leaned on each other, learned from each other, and discovered what it means to lead from where they are, regardless of job title. What happened in this space will shape the way they approach their work, their teams, and the children and families we serve. When we invest in people—not just for what they do, but for who they are—we move entire organizations forward. We cultivate workplaces where belonging, understanding, and trust are built into the foundation. That’s the kind of leadership that lasts. To our 11 new graduates: You are leaders. And we can’t wait to see how you lead. #LeadershipDevelopment #InclusiveLeadership #WorkplaceGrowth #PeopleFirst #GenerationEd #TransformationalLeadership #Empowerment #InternalMobility #LeadershipAcademy
