We believe we should make a positive impact in the communities in which we operate and are proud to be a key contributor to Kenya’s agricultural sector and broader economy. To celebrate 60 years of operating in Kenya, Del Monte Kenya Limited commissioned a socio-economic impact report to detail the company’s community, environmental, and workforce investment in the counties near its operations. Here are a few highlights from the report, which looks at data from 2004-2024: → DMKL supports 19,820 jobs annually, and is one of the top employers in the agriculture sector. Each direct job also supports approximately two additional jobs, impacting an estimated 79,200 livelihoods. → The company has made a KES 100 billion plus contribution to GDP over the past two decades. → DMKL is Kenya's largest producer, processor, and exporter of pineapple products and fruit juice beverages. → DMKL has supported 13 schools serving over 12,000 learners who reside in the communities near its operations. And its Women's Health and Empowerment Programme has reached 11,860 women with reproductive health services. → DMKL achieved a 91% reduction in water use per ton of pineapple since 2016 and planted 146,901 trees between 2016 and 2023. We strive to continue to make a positive impact with investments like the first-of-its-kind bio-fertilizer plant and the recently commissioned 807kW solar panel installation. We’re proud to have operated in Kenya for the past 60 years and are excited to continue investing in the years to come.

Our Chief Sustainability Officer, Hans Sauter, recently joined leaders from across business, finance, and policy at the University of Miami Herbert Business School CSO Summit & Symposium to discuss the evolving role of sustainability in business. The discussion explored how companies are approaching sustainability in the context of broader economic and operating realities, alongside the challenges many are navigating, including a fragmented regulatory landscape, constrained budgets, and increasing scrutiny. Participants also reflected on the capabilities required of today’s CSOs and the opportunities ahead as the function continues to evolve. As Hans noted, “It was refreshing to see that enthusiasm for sustainable business remains intact, with a younger generation eager to take the lead.” At Fresh Del Monte, we believe it's important to have these discussions and will continue to engage in conversations around sustainability and its role in business.

On #EarthDay, this year’s theme — Our Power, Our Planet — calls on communities worldwide to support clean air, clean water, clean energy, protected natural resources, and climate stability. It’s a reminder that environmental progress is sustained by the daily actions of local communities. Across our operations, we make those small actions a priority to reduce our impact while also completing larger, more widespread initiatives, like our clean energy projects in Costa Rica and Kenya. In Costa Rica, we have two photovoltaic projects that power both our fields and facilities — supplying renewable electricity to four administrative offices and four packing houses. Together, they generate approximately 284 MWh annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by 36 metric tons each year. We’re expanding this with 12 additional photovoltaic systems across five facilities. Once complete, these projects are expected to reduce our carbon footprint by an additional 352 metric tons of CO₂ annually — accelerating our progress toward our climate goals. And in Kenya, solar installations are supporting our pineapple operations, reinforcing our commitment to renewable energy across regions. In partnership with Berkeley Energy, we’ve commissioned an 800kW solar power plant to reduce reliance on an often-unreliable national grid while lowering emissions and long-term energy costs. By generating and using solar energy, we’re making better use of the natural resources available to us. At Fresh Del Monte, we believe that nature is often the best resource and by using what nature offers, we can lower our impact on the Earth.

Did you know bananas are the most purchased fruit in the US, with more than 6.6 billion pounds sold in 2025? This #NationalBananaDay, we’re sharing some fun facts about the beloved fruit (we don’t play favorites): Consumers make nearly 31 banana-related shopping trips per year — a 5% increase year over year. Nearly all bananas consumed in the U.S. are imported from Central and South America. Fresh Del Monte has roughly 17,500 hectares planted with bananas in our operations across the region. To reach their destinations without over-ripening, bananas move through temperature-managed systems to preserve firmness, color, and taste across thousands of miles. Something to think about next time you reach for America’s most purchased fruit!
