About us

Every Child’s mission is to build a stronger community and empower families by providing family support and clinical services. Our Clinical Services provide intensive, in-home support based on Structural Family Therapy and Family Systems Theory to assist families who are facing serious emotional and/or behavioral disturbances. Two-person teams, comprised of one Master’s and one Bachelor’s-level clinician, deliver services an average of twice per week. Services are voluntary and require at least one willing parent or guardian to participate in treatment. Our Family Support Services focus on strengthening and preserving families. Our staff work together with birth, foster, and adoptive families to ensure children are provided with a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. Our priority is to prevent the removal of children from their birth families. If that becomes necessary for the safety and well-being of a child, we provide a welcoming foster home with extensive supports, and we strive to strengthen the birth family in an effort to reunite them with their child. When that is not possible, we offer full adoption services so that children may find a loving, permanent home. Looking to get involved? We have several opportunities throughout the year for you to attend fundraising events. Please visit everychildinc.org/news to learn more. Ticket and sponsorship packages are available for you or your company to show its support. We have a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year if you would like to lend a hand. • The workforce shortage in social services is real, and it's not going away on its own. Family-based mental health clinicians, child welfare social workers, family preservation staff — the people doing some of the hardest, most important work in our communities are burning out, leaving the field, or never entering it at all. A lot of that conversation centers on pay, and rightly so. Compensation in this sector hasn't kept pace with the demands of the work, and that's a structural problem we all need to keep pushing on. But pay isn't the only lever, and waiting on it can't be the only strategy. As employers, here's what we believe we owe the people who do this work: ✔️ Honesty about how hard it is. The work is heavy. Pretending otherwise doesn't help anyone — and validating what staff are carrying is the bare minimum. ✔️ Real tools and real support. Confidence in the field comes from feeling prepared, resourced, and not alone in difficult moments. ✔️ A leadership team that's actually reachable. Concerns should never come with a cost. If staff can't bring hard things to leadership without fear of being reprimanded, leadership isn't doing its job. ✔️ A willingness to sit in the uncomfortable. The families we serve don't get to opt out of hard conversations, and neither should we. ✔️ A workplace that's genuinely inclusive and affirming. Not as a value statement on a website, but in how decisions get made and whose voices shape them. We don't have all of this perfectly figured out — no one does. But we think it's worth talking about openly: what's working in your organization, what isn't, and how we can collectively be better employers for the people doing this work. What would you add?

  • If you have followed along over the past few weeks, you have seen the problem we are working on, the model we have built to address it, and the team that delivers it every day. Today, we want to talk about partnership. Every Child, Inc. is not asking for charity. We are inviting community leaders, business owners, and individuals who care about the future of this region to stand with us as co-investors in work that is already producing results — and that is positioned to do more. Philanthropic investment in ECI supports the infrastructure that no single funding stream fully covers: foster family recruitment and training, operational capacity, and the community-building work that makes everything else possible. It is the kind of investment that compounds — strengthening an organization that has spent decades earning the trust of the families, systems, and communities it serves. We are a mature organization with deep roots and a clear vision. We are expanding our reach in family-based mental health care, strengthening our foster family pipeline, and deepening our clinical infrastructure. Not because we are scrambling to keep up — but because the need is growing and we are built to meet it. If you are in a position to invest at a meaningful level, we would welcome a conversation. Not a pitch — a conversation about what matters to you, what we are building, and where those things connect. Reach out directly or visit everychildinc.org to learn more. #Philanthropy #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityInvestment #ChildWelfare #EveryChildInc #SouthwesternPA #MajorGifts

  • Programs don't show up for children — people do. Every outcome we achieve at Every Child, Inc. runs through our team: the clinicians, social workers, family specialists, and administrative staff who have chosen this work with intention — and who stay because we invest in them as much as they invest in the families they serve. This is not incidental to our model. It is the model. We are deliberate about building a workplace where professional growth is the expectation, not the exception. Where clinicians are supported through meaningful supervision, ongoing training, and career pathways designed for the long term. Where the infrastructure exists for talented people to do their best work — and to keep doing it. That investment matters for two reasons. First, because the families we serve deserve care delivered by people who are supported, skilled, and retained. Consistency and clinical excellence are not possible without a stable, invested team. Second, because the workforce crisis in child welfare and behavioral health is real. Recruiting and retaining qualified clinicians in this field requires more than a mission statement. It requires an organization that backs its values with action. We recruit people who want to grow. We build the infrastructure so they can. And we retain the expertise that makes our care consistently excellent — year after year, family after family. The strength of our team is the foundation of everything else we do. #NonprofitLeadership #ChildWelfare #ClinicalExcellence #WorkforceDevelopment #EveryChildInc #SouthwesternPA

  • There is a version of this work that treats a child as a problem to be solved. A placement to be made. A case to be closed. A metric to be counted. That is not how Every Child, Inc. works. Our approach is whole-family, community-rooted, and clinically grounded — because we know that a child does not exist in isolation. They exist within a family, a neighborhood, a set of relationships that either hold them up or let them down. Lasting change happens when you strengthen those systems, not just manage the presenting crisis. In practice, that means bringing therapy into the family's living room instead of asking a struggling parent to navigate a clinic. It means walking alongside a foster family long after the placement is made. It means delivering intensive home-based services that address the root causes of instability before a child ever has to leave. It is more complex than a transactional model. It is also more effective. More than 85% of families served through our Family-Based Mental Health Services avoid out-of-home placement. Hundreds of children have found permanent, loving families through our foster and adoption programs. Families tell us that having someone walk alongside them — consistently, knowledgeably, without judgment — made the difference. This is what it looks like to meet families where they are, not where a system expects them to be. #ChildWelfare #FamilyServices #NonprofitImpact #EveryChildInc #SouthwesternPA #FosterCare

  • One in five children in Pennsylvania will experience a mental health condition this year. Nearly three quarters of youth in foster care have experienced complex trauma. These are not abstract numbers. They represent children in our neighborhoods — kids who are navigating enormous weight, often without the support systems that make that weight bearable. At Every Child, Inc., we have spent decades working at the intersection of where these needs are greatest: foster care, adoption, family preservation, and family-based mental health services. Not because the problem is simple, but because we have built the infrastructure, the relationships, and the clinical expertise to meet it with consistency. The gap between need and available support in southwestern Pennsylvania is real. And closing it requires more than good intentions — it requires organizations with deep roots, proven models, and the community standing with them. We are one of those organizations. And we are glad you found us. #ChildWelfare #NonprofitLeadership #SouthwesternPA #FosterCare #MentalHealth #EveryChildInc

  • Programs don't show up for children — people do. At Every Child, Inc., we believe that professional growth shouldn't be the exception, it should be built into the job. We're hiring clinicians, social workers, and family specialists who are ready to do meaningful work in their community and grow while they do it. Our team is supported through structured supervision, ongoing training, and career pathways designed to make this work sustainable for the long term. The families we serve deserve consistency, clinical excellence, and care delivered by people who are invested in the work. That starts with how we invest in our team. If you're looking for a place to build your career in child welfare and family services — not just fill a role — we'd love to connect. 🔗 Open positions at https://lnkd.in/enw7V3B #NowHiring #SocialWork #ChildWelfare #ClinicalCareers #Pittsburgh
