About us

Eden is a leader in sustainable natural resource recovery. We break rocks with electricity to maximize subsurface permeability. We believe that a more sustainable approach to natural resource recovery is critical to creating a carbon-neutral future. By using high-voltage electricity and proprietary modeling and reservoir characterization techniques, we can achieve precise fracture permeability enhancement, while preventing the high-water consumption and environmental risks associated with traditional hydraulic fracturing operations. With backing from public and private institutions, our next-generation rock permeability enhancement technology is being demonstrated in multiple geologies across the world. We’re working with industry leaders in geothermal energy, geologic hydrogen, carbon storage, and mining to redefine how we recover Earth’s natural resources.

Eden is grateful for the continued support from MassCEC and the InnovateMass program. It was great hosting the Tech-to-Market team last summer and sharing how our electrical reservoir stimulation technology can help unlock geologic hydrogen as a scalable, low-carbon energy resource. Programs like InnovateMass play a critical role in helping early-stage climate technologies move from concept to real-world impact. #Eden #ERS #WeBreakRocks #InnovateMass #MassCEC

Last summer, our Tech-to-Market team visited Eden, an #InnovateMass grantee based in Somerville, MA. Eden Climate is developing a first-of-its-kind Electrical Reservoir Simulation technology, which is used to recover natural energy resources. Eden Climate received MassCEC funding to demonstrate its technology to increase the availability of geologic hydrogen, an alternative fuel. Since 2013, #InnovateMass has provided over $18 million to 93 demonstration projects. By supporting upcoming climatetech, MassCEC is accelerating energy solutions for a cleaner future. Eden had a great showing at H-NAT 2025 in Paris! 🗼 Our Senior Geochemist Jonáš Ťoupal and Subsurface Integration Lead Mark Hansford joined industry leaders, investors, and innovators to explore the future of natural and stimulated hydrogen. Jonas delivered a presentation on Electric Reservoir Stimulation Towards Enhanced Geologic Hydrogen Production, sharing how Eden is advancing subsurface technologies to unlock hydrogen resources safely, sustainably, and economically. ⚡ Our team demonstrated the strong potential of stimulated hydrogen as, part of the clean energy transition, through controlled reservoir stimulation and flow-through core flooding experiments. 🌊 Jonas came away from HNAT energized by the momentum building around geologic hydrogen and the chance to connect with researchers, operators, investors, and policymakers who are all driving the field forward. He emphasized that collaboration and data sharing will be essential as the industry moves toward commercial reality, and he’s eager to continue the conversation and pursue opportunities to deploy and pilot new subsurface technologies in the years ahead. ⚙️ Mark appreciated how HNAT 2025 brought together the most important scientific updates in natural hydrogen and offered a clear window into what’s coming next for the field. He felt the conference marked a pivotal moment—several wells have now confirmed high-purity subsurface hydrogen, and the central question has shifted to whether the industry can unlock sustained, commercial flow. 💧   Onward! 🌎 #HNAT2025 #NaturalHydrogen #GeologicHydrogen #EnergyTransition #Geothermal #SubsurfaceInnovation #Cleantech #ERS Moretti Isabelle HNAT Summit

Accessing geothermal energy, hydrogen, and critical minerals from underground requires breaking rock. For decades, the industry used hydraulic fracturing, pumping millions of gallons of water and chemicals underground. Paris Smalls, PhD spent his PhD at MIT researching how to break rocks with high-voltage electricity instead. The method uses electricity rather than water and chemicals, with more precise control over where and how rock fractures. He founded Eden in 2017 while completing his geophysics doctorate at MIT. The company's Electrical Reservoir Stimulation technology works in water-scarce regions where traditional hydraulic fracturing can't operate. It provides access to geothermal energy, hydrogen, and critical minerals through a cleaner process. Eden has raised over $15 million and secured over $1 million in customer contracts across mining, geothermal, and energy sectors. Paris Smalls was recently selected to join the Unreasonable Impact Americas 2025 program, a collaboration between Unreasonable and Barclays dedicated to scaling businesses that merge profit and impact. Through this program, Eden will gain access to world-class mentorship, resources, and a powerful global network to accelerate its growth and maximize its impact. 🌍 We’re Hiring at Eden! At Eden, we’re redefining how energy and natural resources are produced — using electricity to enhance subsurface permeability for geothermal, mining, geologic hydrogen, and legacy energy applications. Backed by DOE, top investors, and leading industry partners, our team is scaling a first-of-its-kind Electrical Reservoir Stimulation (ERS) technology — and we’re growing! We’re looking for exceptional problem solvers, hands-on builders, and cross-disciplinary thinkers who are ready to tackle some of the hardest challenges in clean energy. 🔹 Senior Pulsed Power Engineer / Lead Design and build next-generation high-voltage pulsed power systems for field-deployed applications. You’ll architect high voltage circuits, build pulse generators, develop novel switching topologies, and connect electrical performance directly to subsurface results. 👉 Ideal for collaborative, low‑ego communicators with experience designing, building, and testing high‑voltage pulsed power systems and a strong command of fast switching, capacitor energy storage, insulation coordination, pulse diagnostics, and protection. 🔹Senior Mechanical Engineer / Lead Lead design of high-pressure, high-temperature mechanical systems that house and protect our energy-delivery tools. From FEA and CFD modeling to prototype builds and field deployments, you’ll turn R&D concepts into robust hardware. 👉 Ideal for a hands-on mechanical leader with industry experience designing and validating mechanical or structural systems within the energy, utilities, or industrial-equipment sectors 🔹 Reservoir Modeler / Engineer Develop advanced 3D reservoir simulations integrating fracture networks, thermal recovery, and THMC coupling. You’ll work at the frontier of geothermal and geomechanics modeling to optimize stimulation strategies and predict real-world performance. 👉 Great fit for analytical thinkers with experience building and running 3D reservoir models and full-field simulations and a deep understanding of thermal recovery mechanisms, fracturing dynamics, and flow behavior in high-temperature reservoirs. 🔹 Electrical Engineering Technician Support our lab and field operations by assembling, testing, and maintaining electromechanical systems. You’ll be in the middle of the action — wiring, troubleshooting, and operating cutting-edge high-voltage tools across lab and field sites. 👉 Perfect for a hands-on technician who thrives in fast-paced, problem-solving environments and takes pride in precision and safety; the ideal candidate will be deeply involved in installation, troubleshooting, and operation of our systems. If you’re passionate about sustainable resource recovery, we’d love to hear from you. ⚡ Join us and help power the planet sustainably. 📍 Based in Somerville, MA or Houston, TX (with flexibility for select roles) 📩 Apply at https://lnkd.in/ehcaQWpf #WeBreakRocks #ERS #geothermal #renewableenergy #pulsedpower #careers
