Look around! Healthy habitat is important for year round inhabitants (like these white tailed deer) and species who pass through our region on their migration journeys (250+ species of birds migrate through northern Illinois each spring). We gain appreciation for protected and improved ecosystems when we observe the animals that these habitats support. Which wildlife are you observing in your neck of the woods? Does it ever seem as though they’re watching you too?

Today is the Spring Equinox! Animals like spring peepers and red-winged blackbirds have mating calls that seem to herald the changing of the seasons. What signs of spring are you noticing? Our next sunset hike is tomorrow, an opportunity to connect with people who love nature as much as you do at Blackwell Forest Preserve. More information and registration here: https://lnkd.in/gpARcu4d
